Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We make things difficult for ourselves in this country. I'm astonished there isn't strict rules and regulations in place to ensure that ALL agent meetings are post-season. In the NBA, teams are not able to discuss an upcoming free agent's prospects of signing with them until the free agency window has opened. Outside of that, a team can waive "rights" to a contracted player, essentially make them free to join whoever they want at any time.

What we're seeing in the AFL is teams meeting with a player's agent while they're still contracted to another club. This puts said team at a disadvantage because while said player is exploring other options, the team they're actually contracted to is being told that contract negotiations are "on hold", when they're anything but.

The AFL needs to stamp its authority on this. There should be no discussion -- publicly or privately -- of a team exploring signing a contracted player in the off-season. We all know that Hogan's agent has had discussions with WA teams, that others team have contacted McDonald's management. This should be reserved until post season, and teams that break the rules should be punished.

It's a farce. If the AFL ever allows the free agency system to go the way of NRL's, I'll quit this game.

Agree with your post 'praha'..

It always makes me laugh when I hear people talk of the NRL system as being mature...no one has ever told me why, the reason being is it's plain dumb. Even they know that and the smarter NRL people (is that an oxymoron?) would like to see the end of this so called maturity.

I, like you would like to see all discussion outlawed until trade time...

I'm still working my head around how Collingwood contacting him directly isn't violating the rules for contact with players who are still playing at other clubs. Surely if the Bombers were annoyed about how we're approaching the managers of the banned players then the Dogs have every right to be filthy at the Pies and Lin Jong for touring another clubs facilities and speaking with Bucks.

[EDIT] Maybe the Dogs don't really see Lin Jong at the club next year anyway.

I'm reviving this thread as Lin Jong is almost single handedly destroying Casey at the moment in the VFL GF. He is far more than just a VFL standard player. To come back from a broken collarbone inside two weeks of the injury occurring and to play the game he is playing, setting up most of the Dogs' attack ( and will likely play in next week's GF) is a seriously good effort in anyone's book...the Dees should be taking a serious look at him.

Especially after cardboard tough guy Dunny threw him around in the "scuffle". Kudos where they are deserved and Jong has really come along this season, well done kid.

I understand Dunny thought process, the game had shifted Doggies way but it back fired. A very experienced Casey team out played by a younger, quicker side who just never stop. Have no issues with LD though, hope he has a great future in whatever he is doing.

Lin Jong took the opportunity presented to him due to injuries to Dogs players in the second half of the year.

He played 5 out of the first 12 games so he was obviously in and out. (This is when he went to see Collingwood.)

Of the last 10 games he played all 10 plus one final.

Suspect the Dogs may offer him a good deal for the next few years.

Trouble with Jong at Doggies is that he's about 6th or 7th in line for mids, so he generally plays in the HFF graveyard when he plays AFL.

Yesterday was an example of how effective he could be with a whole lot more time on the ball than he's ever going to get at AFL with Doggies.

His disposal going inside 50 carved us up. It is the exact type of player we need on our HFF opposed to Bombtheball McGees in Harmes Kent Vandenberg ect

I must admit i thought at the time it looked like the Scorps were flat and he was trying to fire the boys up a bit with it, clearly just fired the doggies up though

So we should recruit a guy who lowers his eyes rather than just simply tell our players to lower theirs?

I don't think Jong's that player at AFL level though. His ball use is better at VFL level where he has a lot more time.

Didn't make their GF team, so might be more inclined to leave now.

Not against the idea of Jong.

One of he, Hartlett, Motlop, Wells, Harvey or Dal Santo would be beneficial to the outside of our midfield.

I'm not as fond of Barlow though. Think we have enough one paced inside mids.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
