Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Optimist only!

What I'm most optimistic about this team in the future is Simon Goodwin coaching, players who he coached at Essendon want to come play with us because of him. That makes me think his a really good peoples person and players will want to play for him, follow his game plan and play harder to make sure he stays around.

Remember how hard it was for Mark Neeld to get Collingwood players over? There was obviously a reason for that.

Dawes came over within half an hour of Neeld signing.

I don't want Goodwin to be mates with players. That causes division.

He must have full respect from all players

Do what i say.

Got nothing to do with it when ridiculous statements are made.

Neeld was a dud coach but he had no problem bringing players with him.

No, really. You have the rest of Demonland to be unerringly negative.

If it was that quick then why was it reported that after several calls to Daws He had to knock his door down to talk him into it?

Why was it also reported that the only club Wellingham didn't want to be traded to was Melbourne when his old midfield coach was now head coach there?

The "do what I say" management goes not work on Gen Y mate.

Respect always wins out

Wellingham always wanted to go home. He was never going to a Victorian Club

There is a world of difference between 'do what I say' and respect. Having respect for someone can mean you do what they say, doing what someone says does not mean you have respect for them. If fact, having someone heavy handed and demanding often means there is little respect as respect is a two way street.

If you listen to Roos' comments a while back it is clear he has changed how he manages the players as the young guys respond to different stimuli. The 'gen y' kids want to be taught, they want to be listened to, and they want to learn. If you can give them that then they will respect you and will follow you lead. The world they have been bought up in is faster with infinitely more options so if you go down the authoritarian route then you lose then very quickly and they look for other options where they can learn.

This is different to how it was and is better in some ways, it is also worse in some ways. It just takes a bit of an adjustment to the way we think and you get the same outcome, sometimes a better one.

I never meant a coach has to yell and scream at players.

By Respect i mean you don't have to be best mates to have Respect.

I think we are on the same page.

Agreed, I think the 'do as I say' line must have come across the wrong way as it made it seem very authoritarian.

The kids want to learn so they do it the way the coach instructs them. If they follow that through and it works then mutual Respect will grow.

Goodwin better know the way to do it.

He is in charge. The FD and Players must Respect that.

If that Respect breaks down or favourites are given preference Goodwin won't make it

We're not that far off the pace, as evidenced by our results against current top 8 teams thus far this year...

  • GWS now in 4th place - in round 1 Melb - 80 def GWS 78 (win by 2 pts)
  • North now in 5th place - in round 3 North - 136 def Melb 131 (loss by 5 pts)
  • Doggies now in 7th place - in round 8 Doggies - 114 def Melb 82 (loss by 32 pts)
  • Hawkes now in 1st place - in round 11 Hawks - 82 def Melb 64 (loss by 18 pts)
  • Swans now in 2nd place - in round 13 Swans - 86 def Melb 31 (loss by 55 pts)

Average margin is a 21.6 pts loss.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
