Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Changes for next week v Swans

I thought there were some really valuable performances that slipped under most radars - VDB and Stretch (a few telling quality possessions just in front of where I was sitting) to name a few.  Roos said 'no passengers', and it looked that way on the day.  For mine, barring injury and load issues, I would leave the side unchanged.  The only issue may be the weather, in which case we might be looking at swapping out a tall for a small.  Newton, ANB or Grimes would be the most likely.  White would need to be upgraded from the rookie list, and I don't see any pressure for us to do so at this stage.  Dawes stays in, probably OMac first tall out.

100% concur other than seemingly it's not a maybe.....it is forecast to bucket down the entire day with 24 mm in the 9am-9pm period alone.  I trust we have the Gold Coast / Swans tape close at hand.  The guy who's stood out in heavy conditions is ANB (at Casey).  Grimes as well.  We need all the wet weather exponents on deck with a emphasis on big bodies.

Myself and mate heading up and I was hoping to get in a swim at Coogee Sat arvo given that the races are out at Rose Hill. May spend the arvo in the Coogee Bay Hotel instead. BTW I swim each morning at Torquay with Brian Cook - me in a wetty, he without. Pretty chilly this morning at 1 degree (water temp 13). I don't know how he does it.

See if my thongs and shoes are still stuck up the tree on the footy ground, if you have a kick on the oval, please? Lost all my shoe gear on my last end of season footy trip to Sinners in 1967.

Absolutely no change unless injuries or tactics. have the bye so no need to rest anyone.

Really excited to play the swans away (haven't said that for over 10 years Im sure).  no one will give us a chance and I reckon we'll get stuck into them.  we will have 1 or 2 surprising wins yet this year (and surprising losses) so its nice to look forward to all games - even though we'll probably lose.

Buddy is going to have a Big Mac Sandwich on sunday. one in front, one behind and frost jumping on his head!  (sorry I'll stop now)

We had a real team effort against the Pies, while some did not get massive amount of the ball they all seemed to do their job. Wagner did very well, he sprayed a few, but then so did Jones, stretch, Tom Mac etc...  Rain coming will assist us as it will reduce their efficiency and both sides  scoring chances. I think this is a perfect opportunity to take down the swans, I certainly like the odds we are being given.

Shouldn't really change a team where we didn't have a bad player

I feel we also finally have the balance right.

They can rest during the bye

Perhaps. But it's not that we have talls that are lumbering elephants. Both Dawes and Frost are busy when the ball hits the deck.

I'd definitely not drop O'Mac, as some have suggested. He's improving with each match and isn't a liability, but if the reason for playing him has been for experience, then give him the chance to learn from a master in going up against/around Buddy.

Should be a least two changes,we don't want players to get big heads. The Swans always seem to come up with a beaut replacement ruckman. When Roos doesn't make changes his usual statement will be,he didn't seem that coming………no need for excuses.

Surprised Hunt is not mentioned as a possible candidate for omission . Whilst he is intermittently spectacular , he surprises on  a weekly basis with his low disposal numbers .  I would love to see Grimes get an opportunity .

The weather forecast is for 15-40mm of rain on Sunday. With that in mind, I would look at resting Dawes and bringing in another wet tracker like Michie.

Matty Jones pack your bag!

Michie - still be vwery vwery afwaid to misquote E. Fudd

Dawes has come back more mobile and gets his hands to the ball bringing it down,  So keep him.  According to my taller friend the trick was to tilt the hands forward rather than back: take note David Cordner and Darren Bennett if you are feeling psychic.

We should suck it up and give Oscar his eighth game looking to the future.

The heavy track supports keeping Vandenberg rather than Stretch.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
