Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Pending tomorrow's match;

IN - Kennedy

OUT - Harmes

Tempted to say White should come in also, however Wagner seems to have his role for now & is doing a decent job.

Pedersen, Grimes & White emergencies.

I was all about Kent pre season, but today was disgraceful. His effort and pressure is non existent, and his work rate to get involved and hands on the ball is miles off AFL standard. Garlett was equally poor but he is likely to kick 6 next week so cannot be dropped.

Out- Kent, Omac (Not ready)

In- Kennedy, Dunny

I would take Pedo every day over Dawes. He is irrelevant on the field. Cannot catch a ball.

On a positive, Trenners worked into it, so happy to see his performance. Vince, Tyson and Jones were phenomenal with their effort

If Cloake plays Dunn offers a better match up than Omac. Tmac seems to get man handled on Cloake. Dunny can get the job done on the gorillas.

Kennedy against his old mob is worth looking at if he plays well at Casey. Harmes might be squeezed out.

OMac will not get dropped. Those here that say that Frost is a better defensive option are seriously deluded. I f we are going to drop a key defender, it will be Frost.

For me, I would keep that same team if possible.

The calling for O-Mac to be dropped is one of the best examples of group think I have seen.

Wont happen. Played well.

I would drop Harmes for best performed at Casey.

He lacks intensity completely. That effort where he ran back to the loose ball at half pace and Poppy got him what should of been holding the ball was embarrassing. He's a kid who hasn't YET adapted to senior intensity. We are now playing to win, not develop, and Dunny offers a lot more currently.

I thought frost was great defensively today. Got enough ball himself, looked to break lines at all times. Couple of turnovers but that's not ever going to be his weapon.

Was sitting at that end, he was out on his feet. Dunn would have been 30 metres off that contest.

I am amazed how many don't get that Dunn is not capable of playing the style of defence we are trying to implement. He is good one on one but does not get to enough contests and struggles to know when to come off his man.

This is not about development with Oscar, he is the best current option for what we are trying to implement. That may change if they play Frost there as well.

He also had to kill that ball in the last, when Bruest kept it in and whoever it was over the back kicked the sealer. Just had to tougher than that and kill the ball over the line.

Depends a lot on Casey, but I'd drop Harmes for Kennedy, I'd personally drop OMac but it's not going to happen, and I'd look at resting one of Hunt or Wagner and giving a game to the best performer out of ANB, Grimes and Michie.

Harmes is the only stand-out to be dropped, IMO. Kent was better and I don't think we'll drop two half forwards in the same week, at least he improved on last week.

I'm not sold on the argument that Dawes is any better than Pedersen was, and Pedersen is a better second ruck than Watts (who is not a long term second ruck option). But I'd give Dawes another game or two first.

He put his elbow into Mitchell's head right before that though so he could still find himself suspended.

First game back and calls to be dropped won't happen

Why the [censored] is Dawes playing over Pederson?

I read that Pedersen was sick with pneumonia which if true would see him out for quite a few weeks.  Pity, because he offers so much more - can mark, can ruck, will ruck.

No way was omac better then frost.

Dunn is not the answer and garland is bad but

Garland in omac out

Kennedy in harmes out

Garland had his cheek broken last week. He won't play this week.

I loved our spine against the Hawks - TMac, Frost, N Jones, Dawes, Hogan. If that group can find some consistency then our developing midfield has a strong foundation to work from. I think Pedo is a vital swingman and we need his utility, but can we fit him onto the bench with that spine in place, Gawn in Ruck, and a very tall Watts playing as a tall forward? Not too sure.

Harmes appears to be the one out of touch. Kent has lost his attack on the ball and tackling pressure.  These two out,  but unsure who to bring in. Probably need Dunn for Cloke.

not quite sure who was watching today, but Tom Mac needs to go back to Casey, to realise he's not that indespensable

Generally the idea with changing the side is to make it stronger - that usually precludes dropping the best player you have for particular positions.

How can people call changes before Casey plays? I'm not heading out to Casey today (aka not partaking in a Sunday arctic expedition), but will be very interested to see how a few names in particular go...

Kennedy and ANB - Given our lack of forward pressure yesterday, I think those two could put their hands up for a return showing a bit in that area.

The Weed - Getting close to the bye now, and I had him penciled in for a debut sometime around then, needs to start breaking through that AFL barrier soon.

M.Jones - Who would have thought at the start of the year that we'd miss him so much? Probably a week or two off selection, but hoping he can have a good run today.

Dunn - Surely yesterday showed us our backline is too young and light. Whatever it is Dunn hasn't been doing to get selected, let's hope he does it today. TMac on an out of form Cloke has not been a good scenario for us in the past....

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
