Agreed after round 2 Tyson hasnt put a foot wrong I was frustrated by him then but its stupid to be saying he was poor now. Like all the [censored] on the day giving it to Watts after that 1 dropped mark, was the only mistake he made all day, frustrating yes but he was far from our worst.

Biggest difference between him and Viney is the attack on the ball. Tyson always seems to receive the ball at clearances standing still whereas Viney and Jones more often are hitting the ball with some speed when they get it.

meh - rewatch the game - Viney and Jones were as tied up in tackles as much or even more than Tyson yesterday.

Tyson has clearly not gone backwards and was as effective as Viney and more than Jones yesterday and his output has  been vastly superior to last year.

Ok...I thought Viney was poor in a couple of areas yesterday.

I know people don't like to hear it as he is the golden boy but if we are to be a serious team then I hope the coaching staff are on top of this.

Jack played selfish, he tried to win the game on his own, he continually tried to break tackles when he had good options and he often hit the ball up where he should have cleared the way for a team mate.

To me he was a rich man's Moloney yesterday and he needs to get it out of his game. The game was too much about Jack and not about team.

Surely we are over the type of thinking where we talk about a player trying his gets out, this is bottom of the ladder and junior league talk. When Hawthorn have a bad one we don't here that Hodge tried hard, it was a great effort. You hear about team and who did or didn't do what to ensure a win.

He is extremely football focussed and as a leader I think he really needs to learn to use his emotional response to help the team. I thought he hindered it yesterday...and it's not the first time.

This is where the maturity will come.

I tend to agree. When the team is down or behind or he just wants to make a difference , Jack wants to lift the team so whilst his intent cannot be faulted, instead of keeping it simple he will try to do a little too much which invariably comes unstuck. 

I don't like using the word selfish when it comes to Viney as he is so selfless running into a contest - I would rather suggest that as result of the team not firing or being behind in his desire to fire up the team or get a positive result he tries to do too much.

Gawn was well beaten alright... by the maggots! The umpires continually let the Bulldog ruckman impede his run at the ball while allowing Bonts to have a clear hit as third man up. Contrast this approach by the maggots to the free against Hickey for impeding Goldstein!

Oliver's minimal impact had him top 5 for handballs and around top 5 or 6 for tackles!

Yep really agree with this post . There must be a lot of blokes going around teaching players and Footscray is full of them how to fall over then get up with the free and drill a pin point pass. The name Beveridge comes to mind. There must be other blokes going around teaching blokes how to continually block others, fooling dumb-enuff  umpires.

People should remember how a lot of these blokes fathers used to play for free kicks the same way. The  TV Fox coverage was like listening to a couple of old Muppets.
