Poor post, Chook.  You're better than that.

Incorrect on both counts. It's not a poor post, and I'm not better than that.

We haven't come to play so far. Poor work rate from the mids. They're well and truly out working us. The ball use going forward has been poor and Gawn is being nullified around the ground. This is the test. Bulldogs are on, it's up to you Melbourne. Bring the work rate and we can win this. Keep playing the way we are and it's game over and a thumping is on the cards.

Our defence is broken. Not the personell so much, but the plan. We zone and push up to the ball carrier and just leave opposition forwards open in their forward 50.

We are too easy to score against. It is covered against rubbish sides, but the dogs and saints have shown this.

I know we are still learning it but it needs a tweak ASAP.

I agree with that, although the zone defence also relies on good ball use and pressure further up the ground as well.  We haven't come close to providing that as yet.  When we do, it works.  When we don't... well, we can see what happens.

You turn it over you lose, simple as that. When they get it they charge forward and kill us with loose men. The answer is to get possession and then keep it until you score.

Our general play has been good.

Why was stringer 30 meters in the clear inside 50?

We can't play worse. Just need to bring the improvement quickly

Your not giving them enough credit, we can still get much worse

Tall forwards destroying us again. Even Jack Riewoldt and Lynch smashed us in the games we won.

Tmac needs to be dropped

Another uncontested mark inside 50. Has to be fixed.

Due to another turnover at half forward too.

But again, I get what you're saying.  We need to lift, and quickly.

Why is one of the best contested defenders in tmac standing without a man

14 points scored in the game so far?? Come on Melbourne, they have no defence! We need to do better than this tripe... Yes, Port lost, but we'll still be out of the 8 if we get thumped today and lose a huge chunk of percentage.

I find it incredible how poorly we score against teams with undermanned defence. It is perplexing as all hell; these are the teams we should be decimating yet we become timid and confused.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
