Funny that, he was pretty sure Hogan was going to Freo a couple of weeks ago....

isn't this the bloke who said you could take it to the bank that Jesse's next contract would be in Perth?

That was Brad Hardie or Langdon..Don't think Gossage has ever stated his position one way or the other until now

No, that was Karl Langdon. Gossage has consistently said he thinks Hogan will stay with Melbourne.

Nah I'm pretty sure I heard Gossage say it as well. SEN on "The Run Home" probably about 3 weeks ago I reckon.

No, he has been consistent in saying Hogan will most likely stay. If you can find the audio I'm happy to be proven wrong, but he has said he is confident he stays in vic a few times now.

Right, well here's a couple of links to places other people have heard Gossage link Hogan with Freo...

I know what I heard mate, so i don't need to search through pages and pages of podcasts to find it. If you think I made it up then you do your own leg work.

Yeah the first link seems like he thought Hogan was 'linked' to Freo, the second link Redleg specifically says ' He then went on to say, that his info was that Jesse liked it in Melbourne and would not be easy to move back home. '

Probably should read the links before you post them :> .

"Would not be easy" is pretty different to categorically saying he won't go though isn't it champ?

That's at least 4 different people now who have heard Gossage link Hogan to Freo but you still think you're right?

Tim Gossage just said on SEN that there is absolutely no chance Hogan will be returning to WA. Hopefully his on the money.

Well that's it, he is definitely signing with the Hawks

As the good sergeant used to say... "I know nothing" but I hope we have a good plan B in place.

It is obvious that we will offer Hogan very good dollars. If he goes I will be upset but I will be even more upset if we do not use those dollars to acquire the services of an A grade player.

Now how that Plan B plays out from a timing viewpoint is obviously of some difficulty. In other threads people talk of a window in which Hurley may be available. Personally I think he will stay at Essendon. If however we want to have a go at Hurley and the money makes it an either/or proposition between Hogan and Hurley it may make sense to put some pressure on now for Hogan to answer.

I dont believe a word any WA journos say. One week Langdon says Hogan wants to quickly get out of Victoria as soon as this year, Next minute Hogan is no chance to return to Perth..

Il believe it when i see Hogan is having a press conference saying how much he'll enjoy the success for the next 10 years.

Langdon and Hardie have consistently said the opposite.

Gossage did say for a while that he thought Hogan would stay.

A few weeks back though after Hardie & Langdon were carrying on again (around the time Hogan was in Perth) he changed his tune and thought it more than likely he (Hogan) was heading to Freo.

Hardie and Langdon are s....stirrers and I wouldn't give them the time of day. Their opinion is worth nothing.

Gossage however, despite his carry on commentary does seem to get some good info and break some footy news so I was a bit concerned when he changed his tune.

It really matters little, but what it does show is that no one has been too sure.

Maybe now Gossage has the good goss and that would be great if correct.

Probably not fair to lump them all in the same basket mate!

Would be like a sandgroper saying they don't trust Victorian journos because of Barrett.

As I said above, Gossage has been consistent in his view that Hogan will stay. According to my good mate in Perth, he is a far more respected journo than the likes of Scott Cummings, Langdon and Hardie who are borderline comedy figures. In the SEN interview he was absolutely unequivocal that Hogan will stay.

To be fair, as much as they infuriate me at times I used to enjoy listening to Langdon and Hardie on the nightly sports talk back in Perth. Also Gossage is every bit as much of a joke as both of them.

No no rjay, all 6 people who have mentioned they've heard Gossage say that are all completely wrong because "schmuttt" says so...

The thing with these prognisticators is that they work on the theory that if they're right they get lots of kudos, and if they're wrong it gets forgotten.

Tim Gossitch (no idea if that's how you spell it) the WA reporter for SEN just ended his section by saying emphatically "I'll leave you with this, there is no way Jesse Hogan will come back to WA, I'll give you more information next week". Only small, but enough to get me excited

So we're trading him for cloke then!

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
