Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

watching from level 3, hickey was very effective around the ground i thought. didn't mark it but also didn't allow gawn to impact the way he has in recent weeks.

hickey drew even with him i thought.

Yes,  I agree.  They broke even, which was a win for the Saints.

Gawn wasn't "beaten".

The Club need to get off the media. Can't believe they allow Gawn to go and list the Top 5 ruckman in the game that he admires or aspires to.  Do these idiots not think the other 12 ruckman, eg Hickey aren't going to have that thrust in their face.

The Kangaroos stated recently that they remind Ziebell about the fact that Roos once stated in the media that he lacks endurance.

Get out of the media Demons until you deserve to be there.

It didn't hurt Gawn to say he aspired to take the number one mantle from Goldy...I think too much is made of this stuff.

The club need to be in the media, it's good for fans and sponsors.

St Kilda basically had their entire pre game on ABC yesterday, access to before the match talks and on ground warm ups. I don't think it hurt them.

Wow.  It's amazing how some people can view football so differently (assuming you thought he had a crack).

Christian Petracca 8 8 16 1 0 1 2 5 0 0 58

On one of these threads somebody compared Toumpas to Petracca. These stats are Jimmy's debut game against the Saints in 2014 compared to Petracca's stats from yesterday.

None really. Just thought it was a strange comparison but the stats indicate that they had similar debuts.

Where did I say I rated his game and yes, I was there.

I thought we had 3 players yesterday that could be satisfied with their game and Watts wasn't one of them.  I also thought he was far from our worst.  I think the Saints worked a lot harder than us and had players round the ball so in many instances Watts was outnumbered. I didn't think he lacked effort, just impact.

His season thus far has been significantly better than he's produced in the past but yesterday was one of his two poor games.

We saw a different player.

He was half-hearted in marking contests and his attack on the footy was substandard.

I don't mind an off game, but his "efforts "were poor.  I wouldn't have made the comment I did to Joeboy if I thought otherwise.

He's had a good year, but can't afford to drop off in the effort stakes.

It seems as soon as we go wrong, we get the whips out for Watts and Tmac.

Watts got into a few really good contests. He is presenting a lot more forcibly than in the past. Credit to him and the coaching staff.

Tmac : short memories ,some people. He held us together in the first half against Richmond. Leads the 1% categories every week !!!

The weakness yesterday was our incapacity to limit their rebounds. Maybe that is a weakness in our game plan. Sydney learnt to do it well both ways. Comes down to organisation.

I laugh when I see people calling for TMAC's head. Don't they realize when he plays poorly we lose? Drop him and we're no chance.

Just so so dumb.

We clearly need an effective 2nd tall forward. Some one to take the 2nd best defender. This releases Watts as the 3rd forward. Frost is not and has never been a forward. Peterson is just a toiler, sometimes he will do ok and other times he will go missing, more of a swingman than anything else. As for yesterday, I believe we lost because the entire team didn't work hard enough but inparticular our midfield. To my eye the saints midfielders would have covered 20% more territory than our boys. The second point is I watched the exact same match against St Kilda last year, only difference was it was at the G. We were out coached that day and again today. Very poor coaching displayed today from Roos. The pattern of play was evident from half way through the 1st quarter and yet there was no reaction from the coaches box.

Yes he can be ( dumb that is ). When there is such a large gap between his best and worst it always is going to result in frustration. He has to narrow that gap considerably otherwise he will continue to cop it.

So many absent players.

You did well to restrain youself.

Why were thye talking about playing finals during the week. They werent even in the eight.

Lets be confident but lets not get too far ahead either

We win 2 in a row like any good side should and then put on this crap.

Looks like they over trained.......they were cooked on toast.

If you read Viney's comment re: finals, he was asked the question and why wouldn't he say that it was an expectation they were in the mix.  If he didn't have that mindset this time in the season why do we all care in that case.

Viney didn't initiate the issue the press asked him and that was the headline.

Now watch the media run with that hare until the next sucker provides them with a new headline.  Headlines equals sales of papers - its that simple.

fortunately (for us) there are quite a few clubs this year under the media scrutiny including many powerhouse clubs.

but i agree we should avoid making any silly statements until we have much more consistency and keep a lower profile without being invisible

Seems two of our three wins so far have been against poor sides who are going to finish in the bottom six.

We have got a little in front of ourselves and started believing that 4 kids are world beaaters when they are actually just good VFL players at this point.

I am still confident of 10 wins this year but to suggest finals in 2016 is gilding the lily somewhat.

We still half no CHF, no HB flankers and our CHB and FB are average AFL players.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
