Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Where does Chris Dawes fit in all this?

Because i am struggling to see when he is back playing how he will fit in the team. I am sure he has added great leadership over the journey but personally he is too limited, and with Frost and Pedersen playing good footy i cannot see him playing much at all this year.

Will be good for Weideman down at Casey though teaching him and providing leadership and experience

I still think Dawes' best is better than that of the other two. If he can get his body right he's still best 22 for mine.

Agree DD, i think Dawes has done what we needed him to do and mentor Hogan to a point, but going forward i think another club like the Lions or Blues for example might have more use for an expeiernced key forward

Chris' body has let him down repeatedly, so I am not sure whether long or even medium term plans can include him, as an on field player.

He has been very important as a mentor and if he is interested I suspect he could be offered an assistant / specialist coaching or mentoring role.

I actually think Watts has taken his spot. Dawes was ever only the 3rd tall at the pies.  Watts totally owns that spot now.

Dawes can't ruck even for short spells. So i don't see him as a replacement for Pedersen.

With Petracca coming in probably as a forward i just don't see a spot anywhere for Dawes.

So for mine he needs to rely on other player injuries or extended poor form. Even then he is well down the queue.

He provides pressure on Pedo and Frost to keep performing. If they fail to do that then he gets his chance.

Nothing you already knew.

Yeah, I'm not sure of his place in this side, although I wouldn't completely rule him out. If Pedersen manages to fit into this structure, it's just possible Dawes is capable too.

Though I'm looking forward to Weideman coming in to this side.

Pedersen is a significantly better overhead mark which he uses to great effect especially down back.

It seems like every week he clunks a big pack mark at the top of our defensive goal square.

Pederden also provides much more service in the ruck than dawes and over the last 12 months put some good form together (injuries not withstanding)

Frost and Pederson aren't exactly cementing their spot.

The Centre half forward position is up for grabs by any of these 3

It's only going to be a short-term solution, as any of those 3 will just be keeping that position filled until Weideman is ready to come in.

Needs to go back to Casey and shoot the lights out, like Trenners is doing. If he regains his best 2010 form , then he is certainly in our best 22 for mine. I suspect though he no longer has that in him, so a mentoring coaching role may make sense. From all reports a top bloke, and very smart, so a longer term non playing role may make sense.

Intially though, send him back to Casey to show what he's got.

My, my havent times changed. Seems like only yesterday that everyone was scratching their heads at the Pedo recruitment, while Dawesy was the great white hope...

Not everyone!  Some of us have never rated Dawes over Pedersen let alone seen him as any sort of great hope.

Has the potential to take Pedersen's spot and rotate between FF & CHF with Hogan.

It would mean that Frost becomes 2nd ruck and we play him as a utility with stints down back and on the wing.

This would require Dawes to play some great footy at VFL level first however.

Dawes hasn't exactly cemented for 3 years either.

SP I, like you, cannot understand why a lot here  cannot see Pedersons' value, maybe because he is a bit of a workhorse and isnt too fancy. I believe he is critical to our team balance and works his a$5se off for the team

We are nowhere near a Premiership side.  If Chris Dawes gets his body right (& finally he has the luxury of being able to do that) I would have a premiership player with a fantastic footy brain & an amazing appetite for the footy in my side any day of the week.  And...I bet any small forward or indeed forward at Melbourne would echo that sentiment

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
