Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think they see Oscar and Dunn on similar levels at this point.

If Oscar doesn't grow in confidence and put in some good performances over the next couple of games I think Dunn will slot straight back in.

But for the time being the coaches want to blood a young player and obviously don't think the difference between the two of them is large enough to stick with Dunny

You've gotta kidding. On what basis? Strength at the contest? No. Disposal skills? No. Reading the play? No.

Dunn was no worse than T. Mac in the few games he played, and miles better than O. Mac and Garland. If he has been ostracised for not adapting to our ridiculous zone defence, FMD, neither have any of the other key defenders.

absolutely shocked he's not in the team to be honest, i thought for sure they'd want one of Garland or Dunn playing for some experience down back.

Dunn something wrong Abe?

That's not true. He was abysmal in the St Kilda game. Got moved to the fwd line because he gave away 2 stupid 50m penalties, didn't play to thegame plan amd was dropped the following week. TMac wasn't good but he was miles better than Dunn

That was just one game. Thought he was ok/good against North and Richmond in the weeks preceding. Dunn was probably frustrated and bewildered with our tactics against the Saints in allowing Reiwoldt to play as a loose man in their forward line.

O. Mac has been hideous in every game he's played, yet retains his spot. Bewildering.

I'm with those who are mystified. I thought the days of giving senior players the middle finger were in the past but apparently not.

So he had a bad game against the Saints. He wasn't exactly alone.

Maybe playing O Mac is a ploy to get his brother to sign...

Anyone know what is happening with Lynden Dunn?  Can't seem to crack a game despite VFL form and with Garland going out injured in a week where the coaches made a point to bring in experience.

Did I miss something somewhere or is this just a big D'Land mystery

If he cant make It In ahead of Omac after that last performance I would suggest his papers are now signed Hellfish

Another from 186 is no more?

Only Jones, Watts, Trengove, Dunn and Garland remain from that game. Probably 2 too many. 5 too many depending on who you talk to.

Dunn and Garland are in their last AFL contracts you'd think.

Didn't see the game Jnr and stats are always fraught with danger on their own but my weighted rankings had them fairly close on the day with Tmac slightly ahead. The rankings include allowance for clangers. Also these particular rankings/weightings are fairly accurate in terms of comparatives as they are both playing down back, rather than  completely diff areas of the field. Although you mentioned Dunn playing up forward at some point. Not sure how much TOG he spent the direct comparison might be a little out.

Tmac - 14th (2.40*)

Dunn - 16th (2.15*)

Both were ahead of the other 2 regular defenders on the day in Lumumba 18th (2.05*) and Jetta 19th (1.93*), however all those scores are relatively low and a bit sub par in terms of being a decent game (statistically anyway) which is probably to be expected in a losing team.

In his only other two matches after this i had him ranked 9th overall against the Sons (3.95*) and 9th again the following week against the Doggies (3.95). Again, i didn't see either of those matches but he couldn't have been too bad if he was in the top 10 statistically.

He's said or done something very wrong.

From Vice Captain and one of the first picked to selection on the wing at Casey. He's not exactly old : on last year's form he's got 3-4 years in him.

They might give him a couple of games late to up his trade value. But to tolerate OMac's error rate and leave Dunny out when Garland is injured- says "goodbye Lynden".

I think he'll be a loss - and have zero faith in OMac. But the signs are unmistakeable. Someone else will wear No 14 in 2017

I must have missed something here... Dunn on his day* is an adequate defender, but he isn't the second coming of Anthony Ingerson that some are alluding to.   He could just has easily been delisted at the same time as his fellow draftee Matthew Bate was and no one on DL would have batted an eyelid.  He redeemed himself by playing his first really consistent season of football the next year and since then has failed to inspire the FD so much so that he's been dropped from the leadership group and can't get a game ahead of inexperienced defenders such as O Mac and Frost.

There are also some giant leaps of faith in thinking his inclusion will stop us from being scored against - it didn't against the Saints where he was clearly one of the worst offenders in non adherence to team structures. He's probably disappointed not to be getting a senior game, but the FD would be more so.  If you're going to poke the bear you'd want to have some good wheels and a bloody long stick.

* They say every dog has his day, Dunn's was in 2014 when he finished 4th in the B&F, - just like Nathan Carroll and Matthew Warnock.

Probably the best theory I've heard as to why Oscar is playing in lieu of Dunn. Can't believe it never occurred to me.

Agree. Dunn was ok and shutdown roles against Kangaroos and Tigers.  Obviously frustrated during Saints game and I think wanted T.mcd to man up on Riewoldt.

Dunn has been very good in Casey games.

Why is o.mcd still getting a game? he has been absolutely terrible ... a Liability !! I am confused. We need experience in our back 6.

To me, our list management of recent years looks like this:

2014 Roos' first year - everyone gets a fair go to show their wares, in particular their attitudes, behaviours and willingness to learn and follow coaches instructions.  Those that clearly faulted on these went first.

2015 Goodwin's (and McCartney's) arrive - Now time for players (especially senior) to buy into coaches requirements.  Those that clearly faulted on these went.

Dunn (and Grimes) were VC and LG in 2015.  If they showed the leadership required they would still be there.  So I suspect it is not what they have done wrong but that they failed to do what was required.  They might be loyal, great characters for the club but they need to play the right football the right way.

Roos clearly stated to all and sundry that he was all about teaching defence first. It seems no coincidence that, of the more senior players, it was key defenders (Frawley, Dunn, Grimes, Howe etc) that Roos traded or dropped. Those that bought in to the new regime are still in best 22 when fit: Tom McD, Jettta, M. Jones - not necessarily the most talented but willing to do what coaches require and get the best out of themselves. Hard to see Dunn (and Grimes) getting back into the team (altho I would like to see Grimes play his 100th game).

He showed no leadership when the Saints were running amok.....I think the game is past him...

In 2013-2014, playing the one-on-one with big bodies, he was unbeatable...but, the game plan has changed and there aren't many stay at home forwards anymore.

Perhaps he's unfit?

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
