Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Could possibly get back a tiny amount of the respect he's lost if he announces he's making a $10,000 donation to the coward punch campaign.

Doubt that's what it is though...

If this was the case would prefer he just made the donation quietly, it would released he made it without the fan fair of a press conference.

I don't think you're far off the mark with him making a donation though.

Yeah good point, although it would show remorse and would give him a chance to say how poor that kind of thing is, and maybe even get the work being done some exposure.

I didnt think it was that bad after Jack Watts got up ok. I thought it was a free and to be honest thought Viney's response while great might be judged over compensating.

It seems most D'landers think it was much worse.

I'm bemused when Rance apologists say "it was out of character". No, it actually was in Rance's character to forearm a defenseless player to the back of the head when they're lying on the ground. A minute percentage of the population would be cowardly enough to commit such an act, so it's in Rance's character.

It was pretty forceful and in the back of the head.  Not enough to knock you out, but definitely enough to give you a headache.

Good old Titus had this to say, in his own inimitable way:

"........

Rance will now miss two weeks but a better punishment would be making him play the next two games. That’s how bad Richmond are."

I am holding your logical function in an underground bunker, and will release it on receipt of $10,000.  Do not contact the police or the mods, or you will never think clearly again.

Feel free to lie face down on the grass and have someone do the same to you.

Only Watts knows how forceful it was.

Viney was given the all clear and majority of people found nothing wrong with it. I think if he stood there and did nothing he would have been more harshly judged.

Yes I accept that it deserved 2 weeks. Penalties being what they are now, he had to go. I Still am worried about my 81-1 on Viney for Brownlow but I wouldnt have him any other way.

It is the potential for extremely serious injury that matters - this is exactly what killer punches do, and this was an elbow, much harder than a fist, to a head that was on the ground, unable to move away to lessen the impact.

A pathetically weak penalty for a very nasty, malicious and potentially lethal attack. Still, the MRP seem to adjudge say Jack Viney standing his ground as an Adelaide player gets pushed into his shoulder as far worse, or Brent Moloney almost contacting a former teammate as equally deserving.

Such is their (lack of) understanding of life.

The fact that Jack Watts got up is irrelevant. Medicos will tell you the most dangerous place to be hit is in the back of the head which is what killed Phil Hughes. Only yesterday, a first class cricketer was hit in the back of the head in Sri Lanka, rushed to hospital, and doctors said the only reason he survived was because he was wearing one of the post Hughes modified helmets which partially protected him.

Watts had no such protection, yet Rance had no compunction to put his life at risk. He should have got 8 weeks or even more.

What gets on my goat is his heart-on-sleeve Christianity. Clearly the commandments are not part of his particular faith.

Outmarked and outmuscled by Jack Watts

Rag dolled by Jack Viney,  pushed around by Bernie Vince

Took a dive, gave a way the 50 metres and a goal

Alex Rance can do as many press conferences as he likes he will never live it down

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
