I wondered why it was a 2.15 presser. Who chose the time?

Then I thought - just out of interest - I'd visit 2.15....it says....

Song of Solomon 2:15

Book 2 Verse 15. - "Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vineyards; for our vineyards are in blossom."

I read this as Watts is the fox and Viney is in full blossom. For shall you take a fox out, the Vineyard will respond.

One thing he said

Quote

"I'm absolutely remorseful for what I did and very frustrated at myself, because I know I've let my teammates down and I don't want that perception to be made of me."

Do not do stupid things and you will not be remember for them, you muppet!

Exactly. He could have just posted a tweet, or had the members of his cult drop a pamphlet in people's letterboxes.

Or do a door knock around the suburbs....

Still frustrated? Hope the press corps didn't turn their backs on him.

Only if he simply sits there the whole time making "ssshhhh" noises placing his finger on his tips.

I read this thread and thought he just added 'idiot' to his character traits.

Then read the interview transcript on MFC website and i am prepared to cut him some slack.  He took the fallout on the chin.  The easy thing to do was just hide in the background and quietly take his 2 weeks.  RFC probably made him do it but it was good that he took public responsibility.

He wont live the incident down.  He has set himself up for much sledging on the field from all teams.  His punishment will last a lot longer than 2 weeks.

It takes a man of character to do what he did and face the media today.  Respect that, he also related it to a massive issue in society the coward punch and took responsibility.  It is totally against the way he plays the game, he was the only defender that stopped us kicking 25 to 30 goals goals on Sunday.  People that bag him on here need to look at their own perfect life with no mistakes, he made one copped his whack both on the field and off.  Respect to him

I agree with this.

It was a massive brainfade and listening to him, he doesn't back away in any way, shape or form from what he did and sounded generally remorseful. He hasn't got a history of sniping or doing anything of this nature. LH is spot on - he could have taken his penalty and said nothing but he didn't. He will take a long while to live this down. We move on.

I dunno man, I've made many mistakes, but I've never punched a bloke in the back of the head.

Not many have, but he did the right thing in coming out today to really apologize and say it's not on and it isn't.

True, and you have to respect the contrition (if it's there, haven't seen the presser).

Was still a dirty thing to do though.

hahaha..I'd love this so much.

Was hoping Rance would retire. That seriously would've been the cherry on top.

What Alex Rance did was a low thing to do to Jack Watts I think he should of got 6 weeks!

Posted

Brian Lake got 4 weeks for his brain fade against Drew Petrie and I think Petrie played a role in that incident.

Rance should have got a minimum of 4...

Outmarked and outmuscled by Jack Watts

Rag dolled by Jack Viney,  pushed around by Bernie Vince

Took a dive, gave a way the 50 metres and a goal

Alex Rance can do as many press conferences as he likes he will never live it down

Don't forget, given a bath by Jesse Hogan in his third game of AFL.

Agree, although there was a bit of "wouldn't want this one mistake make anyone think badly of me".

The main reason for the presser was to try to protect his reputation.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
