Love 'im and it's great to hear him encouraging and teaching out there.  Was a little surprised to hear how quiet the other players were out there though.

Loved his comment to Jeffy: "This is why you play"

Can't help but feel they had to edit out all the best bits. But I loved Bernie's leadership and positive direction. Setting up around the ground is so vital, you can see scores happening if one or two players are just a bit out.

Tom Bugg next week please!

Love Bernie - he is a great leader, player and all round top bloke by accounts. I have two daughters - I seriously want him to marry into my family.

I can only dream.

It would be fascinating if this was a red button type option. Obviously clubs wouldn't allow it to occur live for various reasons but it would be brilliant viewing even at a later date.

Thnx for that.

Wish they had've played some excerpts from the biffo though!

Considering they played it on Channel 7, it just would have been something along the lines of "**** you ******* **** come on then you *** *** ******"

What do you recon 3 sec mean? He says it twice.

I was thinking it was maybe a term to say you have a bit of time (3sec) to make up you mind, dont panic and make the right choice.

but could be something else.

Plus, he calls all the guys "boy".....good boy, get around!!!!

Was an edit but surprised he doesn't have a cheekier on-field persona. Was expecting him to say 'check this one' into the mic. as he roosted the goal from 50.

Full of concentration our Bernie. Plays the game not the mics.

I was wondering that too - seems to say it at stoppages.

Was thinking it might be breaking the contest into tiny units, like: 'Win the next three seconds...'??

Why would he say that?

Heat of the game i highly doubt he has time for cheekiness just for a little mic.

What i got out of that is his leadership around the contest. Was also good of him to not shout down Hunt for his mistake but encourage him more.

I would lose a lot of respect for him if he did that. This is not an American sport yet.

Yeah, I was kidding. Gee, don't mess with the Bernie love. Most were pretty chuffed with Bugg's goal-square mischief and in honesty, it wouldn't bother me if Bernie had indeed done it. The players are riding a wave of confidence bordering on a necessary arrogance and some players get their mojo from playing to the audience.

Absolutely love the way Bernie got around Hunt after that brain fart, i think anyone who has played footy for any period of time has had a moment like that where you just totally muck something up, it's not the end of the world, great leadership by Bernie.

He and Nathan Jones seem to have a bit of good cop bad cop going on, Nathan is the hard edge captain and Bernie is the experienced good bloke, both can be quite firm but they seem to really work well together as the older leaders.

Man love for Bernie who has become the complete player and leader on the field. His talk on the field is really impressive and I have more admiration for the guy than ever. Has to be our best pick-up ever.

Who are you mate? Any chance you could change your name given I have been here (and Demonology) since about 2005?

He's out of left field

Well, it won't allow me to, what's the limit for name changes? I tinkered with it when I started posting on this site

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
