Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

With Frost it's a hard one. it all depends on the height of the Saints defenders?
If they're a little smaller than maybe cause them a few headaches and if they're taller then obviously we need the height..
But, if they're small then it's a good opportunity for Petracca to come in and play

Agree with this !!

I mean he's leading the club for pressure acts and about 14th in the comp for tackles, so i'd say he's just being a very VERY good team player consistently and one of the last who should be dropped imo

i never meant he hasnt being a team player but is 5 weeks of pressure acts and tackles tiring him?

he is very good and im stoked we have him but we now have options if players aren't 100% primed

Last week was Harmes best game for the season, no way will he be dropped.

I can only think Petracca for Frost... Oliver to Casey. I like what Frost is bringing, but maybe at Etihad v Saints we need a mid more than a tall. Oliver is a clearance specialist, but the thinking may be give him a less pressured game at Casey before working him back into the team. Gus looked a bit stuffed at times on Sunday, but he still had a lot of deft and important touches inside. Matt Jones would be stiff to be sent to Casey, but selection is now that tight.

One of his best games IMO, stat numbers aside.

His disposal has surprised me too. He's a beautiful, low, spearing kick at times. Harmes stays in for mine.

He just has to be careful not to over use that kick now. It's like he's found a weapon and wants to fire it off repeatedly. His kick to Bugg for the mark ended up well but probably could've had a little more 'fluff' on it. Can't see him getting dropped though, he's doing exactly what the coaches want and working on improving as well.

If he keeps executing it I'm all for it. He did it to Hogan on a lead the previous week too or maybe it was against Essendon. Can't remember, but he certainly did it on the 'G.

The Etihad factor is why I'd drop Frost. There's not the same space to need as many tall options and you need guys good in small spaces, where as Frost is at his best with room to run in to space either to attack or defend.

I think Watts should play up the ground this week to get more involved in general play. Hogan usually plays deep at Etihad and I like that game plan. It's a ground where you can be creative at half back and get the ball through the middle then to your best forward one on one deep inside 50.

I'd like Oliver back to have that extra clearance and creative player to help get the ball through the middle of the ground. The question will be whether the club has faith that Oliver and Petracca can play together in the same side. I think they can. 65-70% game time each. Oliver probably doing a fair bit in the midfield with some time forward, Petracca the opposite.

Yep was the kick to Hogan, one of the best kicks to a lead we've had in a long time, probably since Davey retired.

To be honest, Hogan has been ordinary when playing as a deep forward this year. He's been far better playing as a CHF. Watts has been far better playing deep.

I think you are right,  & probably Salem rested, not sure if that makes us stronger in the short term

Agree that he's better as a CHF, but DS's point is that for Etihad it might suit him. In the NAB against the Saints, he should have had a bag, just couldn't mark the damn thing, but beat his opponent numerous times. I'd start him deep and then move him up the ground if he can't get into the game.

For me it's either Frost or Pederson for team balance. With Frost you get more forward pressure and he is more likely the future with us, with Pederson I feel he's been quite solid and is a better second ruck than Frost.

I reckon Harmes fits what we are trying to build at the club in terms of forward pressure and he is also a big part of the future.

Either way it'll be a very tough call for the match committee on Thursday night!

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
