Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Changes v St Kilda

If Wagner goes, he'd need to be replaced with a back: White, Terlich, Garland, O'Mac etc.

Suspect at least one player will be out with injury/soreness concerns: mutterings about Wagner (copped a solid hit) and Salem (groin).

Petracca for Frost is a no brainer.  We will lose something defensively but gain so much more attack.

Oliver has to play full stop.  I love Brayshaw but Oliver just has to play.

Trengove is a better player than Bugg and I can't see the downside.

The short break warrants the changes to the winning line up.

Not having actually seen CP5 at AFL level - and nobody has - can we really know that we will lose anything defensively?   Looking forward to the chance to see him though.

And re Trengove vs Bugg - maybe when JT regains full match fitness, but he knows that he will not be rushed back in.

I just don't think Frost is doing enough at the moment for a bloke his size, probably will be a player but not there just yet.

Pederson at least is good in the Ruck ,takes some good marks and has good goal sense.

Petracca for Frost and I reckon we will see double the output at least.

Brayshaw still doesn't look fit, so a rested Oliver should give us extra grunt.

I'd swap Oliver and Brayshaw - Brayshaw just looked a step or too off the pace last night. Oliver was given a week off to rest, I'd do the same to Gus.

Assuming there are no forced changes due to injury, the only other change I'd really consider is Petracca for Frost. Frost is getting better but still can't mark and some of his field kicking is awful. I like the way he goes about it and the FD clearly wants him to work as a third/fourth tall forward but if Petracca is ready to play that's an improvement at that position right now. I'll caution that by saying St Kilda's strength is its running and smaller players so if Petracca isn't 100% fit and/or prepared to gut-run in defence like Frost is, then he isn't ready to play. Given the word of those who have seen him play at Casey, I'll back him in.

If Salem or Wagner aren't 100% and need to be rested, I'd prefer to see M Jones take his spot back in the side. Did little wrong over the first month and is far more in form than Garland or Terlich.

Kennedy wasn't his best yesterday but his first four games are more than enough to keep him in the side. Hunt showed enough too IMO. Bugg has to keep tackling and pressuring because he turns it over too much. Stays for now but the pressure from the VFL boys will, hopefully, only get stronger.

It's amazing that we can't even fit Trengove and ANB into the frame at all despite consistently strong VFL performances. Isn't this mythical form phenomenon grand?

Note: would love to see Trenners back on the G though.

SO you didn't see Frost take the ball in the backline, run the length of the field take a ball on the run and have a shot on goal (that hit the post)?

Can do more for sure but he he clocking up some miles and competing really well.

Agreed, Hunt saved at least three goals with just desperate pressure acts and his speed made a huge difference on offense.

Brayshaw and Hunt Out

Petracca and ANB In

Think Oliver needs to go back to the 2's and work on his tank.

Brayshaw looks cooked and game time isn't helping and Hunt just turns it over a few to many times for my liking.

We need to see what others can bring to the table and we won't know unless we try

That's odd. Thought you called for Hunt out last week as well, before the Tiges game.  Hunt and Oliver I think you said.  Or was it Hunt and M Jones?  Doesn't matter - I'm sure Hunt was the common denominator.  And then he backs it up with a really big improvement in his second game - and you call for him to be dropped again?  Please tell me that you don't have a pre-conceived judgement in your head about any of our players???

Pederson had one of his best quarters for the club ever in the last when the game was up for grabs. Was terrific. Frost came good in the second half when he started running the length of the field. His opponent was left for dead.

The coaching staff are doing a fantastic job and we are developing to be a very good 4 quarter side. I think we have been very good at understanding what limited rotations means and how best to understand and get an edge in games by exploiting the new rule.

I thought after the Essendon game and we were discussing at half time when Pedo and Frost had limited impact that Dawes might be a better option, and for some games he may, but the second half showed what they are trying to achieve with Frost and I would now like to see him remain in the team and develop his main weapon, which is his endurance running.

Kennedy was tagged against Tigers hence allowed our other mids space. He and Bugg have bought some of the mongrel to our team that we have lacked since the Todd Viney/ Grinter days.

Just like the Dees walked taller the year when Bryon Pickett came across, 'competitors' like Kennedy & Bugg add more than just stats alone

I'd be very wary dropping two experienced players for a 0-gamer and a 3-gamer respectively, in Petracca and Oliver. Has disaster written all over it.

Brayshaw I can understand, but the senior players will cope far better with the 5.5 day turnaround than kids will.

Unless we have injuries it would be hard to justify dropping anyone from Sunday nights game, they all did their bit and played like a TEAM, WINNING TEAM!!! I am struggling with the fact that we have recruited and developed such great depth in such a short time frame, we could be on the cusp of something great. What an amazing turn around from our previous 3-4 years pre- Roo's

Actually I think I heard Misso saying just that he will return via the VFL. His last couple of weeks weren't bad neither were they great numbers.

I thinking going through VFL will help make him hungry for more AFL action.

But since you're convinced he comes straight back into the team when fit who makes way?

Brayshaw.

For those thinking about ANB coming in, I suspect that as good as his form might be, the club has him earmarked as a mid and not a flanker. So I suspect that for him to make his way into the team you are going to need an injury to Viney, N Jones, Tyson etc... he's not going to be coming in to replace Harmes, Hunt etc.

Roos said Petracca would now be selected based on form, not fitness which should suggest he gets a game pretty soon, however with a loss to Willy, and Petracca being good, but not great could mean he doesn't get a game till Gold Coast in the following week.

Trengove was solid again, and would be great to see both come back into the seniors together.

Frost and Wagner Out

Trengove and Petracca In, Oliver to have a run in the twos and will be back very soon.

The odds of them debuting at Metricon are negligible.

Very good point made on our management of rotations. This comes on top of our management of the 2015 draft where we outflanked everybody to get two Round 1 draft picks. It seems that MFC and especially our FD is ahead of the rest of the AFL in most key areas and the penny is just starting to drop.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
