Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just putting it out there

if the dockers continue to be bad and finish bottom of the ladder and end up with pick one and they come hard for Jessie hogan. Would you do pick 1 and Neale and let's say tommy Sheridan in a trade??

If Jesse is determined to leave and we have zero hope of keeping him, which I highly doubt will happen, i'd be asking for pick 1 and Neale.

Hogan is contracted for this year and next so entertaining any such proposal can be rammed where the sun don't shine.

I would have thought Hoges would stay put. Freo have been threatening to fall off a cliff for 2 or 3 seasons and it's finally happened.

I don't know why anyone thinks Hogan would go to Freo and take years off his career by flying back and forth across the country every second week. It's that idiot Langdon. I think Jesse will sign a big deal with us, but if he doesn't, we're more likely to lose him to another Melbourne-based club.

Reads thread title. Thinks, surely not.

Reads OP. Well ok then.

No.

Forget whether it would be a good or bad deal. The number 1 thing Roos has tried to build is culture. Any form of encouraging your star forward to leave is against that.

And the idea that we need another number 1 pick is good for a giggle. It's the last thing we need.

Didn't you know the dockers are tanking for #1 pick to use on hogan :(

If it's on the table and he hasn't re-signed, simply ask him.  Would he prefer to go back to Freo or stay with Melbourne and work out a new contract?  If he says he'd like to go to them, put them over a barrel and take what we can off them.

I would agree with that. A committed Jesse Hogan is untouchable, a homesick Jesse Hogan isn't. If he was to leave MFC for Freo, IMO he would have to be extremely homesick - because they are on the slide, whereas MFC are on the rise. It would be have to be bordering on McCarthy homesick, which in that case, I would take pick 1 and Neale.

I just can't see Hogan leaving. Why would you want to leave an up an coming young side who have the potential to bring a lot of success to join a side who will be dropping over the next 4 season? If he does want to leave then he wouldn't be someone I'd want as the club is more important than anything.

For what it is worth I've said this before but I believe he will sign for an extra 3-4 years at the end of this season.

I think a lot of his decision to stay had to do with our performance this season, considering we are winning now with out him being the center of our forward line means the pressure of off him to preform well every week and he can just enjoy playing football.

Plus if he really wanted to go  it would be in the media a lot more because those reports know everything going on before if happens most of the time.

It is a very logical question because besides homesickness this diamond has some flaws. Would love him to stay and be the player that everyone predicts but on his form this year I am a lot more relaxed about the "go home" factor.

TBH after a few weak efforts last night I did actually wonder whether Freos 1st & 2nd plus Neale was worth floating.

As I say, want to keep him but very relaxed if he doesn't want to be a part of it.

no, lose hogan and we're back to the drawing board for a target man.

he's vital to our future progress.

Unless Weidmann and Hulett and the Kings come along well.

I'd be upset if we lost Hogan, I think he's a genuine big deal, but he isn't club-defining.

Anyway, speculating about off-loading him for the best price is a bit like thinking about breaking up with someone you love, just because you feel anxious about losing them.

Definitely understating Hogan's importance.

You'd be seriously crazy to consider leaving a club thats really on the up to a club that on the downfall with alot of ageing players who are crippled.

Up to you Hoges..

These are the facts.

We are on the rise, Freo appear to be on the slide.

Jesse loves Melbourne the city and the club.

He will get similar money from us to any other offer.

We were supportive of him when he was out for the season.

He is not dominating the game this year and yet we are playing well.

He is great mates with Harmes , JKH and appears to get on with the rest of the boys.

He gets to play at the G at least 10 times a year.

If he goes to Freo he flies each second week across Australia and he has had back problems.

Freo want McCarthy and Hooker and won't have a first round pick to offer us and with the older players going, won't want to lose any young stars. As Hogan is contracted in 2017 any offer would have to be massive and I am not sure they would see it as worthwhile, putting all their eggs in one basket. They need to get several young players into their club.

He probably does miss his family and mates in Perth.

That is what he needs to balance. I don't believe that footballers are totally motivated by missing family and mates. Yes it plays a part in any decision, but so do the other factors.

FWIW,  I think he will stay for a few more years at least.

Hogan can reach superstar status if he stays at Melbourne. Only gws and the Bulldogs can offer such a promising young engine room to feed him for the next 5 years.

If he goes to Freo he will be waiving his arms with dissatisfaction every week. They are on the slide and look headed for a 3-5 year rebuild. He won't reach superstar status at Freo.

A more successful melbourne with an up and coming list will also be a major reason to stay. If we do not progress from last year then he would certainly think about other options. everyone wants success. some of our long suffering players have stuck with us through some horribly lean times. Now I prey they all get a real taste of success and that Hogan is part of that success.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
