Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Danger game this week... our heads get inflated after a win. Game v Bombers showed not to just "turn up".

ins... Vince and Garlett

out... Hunt and Oliver

Stat over at Demonblog. Of the last 16 times we have gone in as favourites we have won 4. I don't know about you guys but four almost feels too generous

Anyone asking about Brayshaw hit. He got absloutely crunched by a Collingwood players hip unsure which Pie it was but seen it on the replay today sometime In the 3rd QTR, commentators also missed it and was not mentioned when it happened. Watch the replay and you will see it Punt road end.

Cant see too many changes other than Vince straight in, Garlett in if fit.

Cant see them dropping Wagner or Hunt after their performances.

Might be a good chance to rest Oliver, not that he played poorly, but purely to manage the battering he is and will continue to get through the season.

Sadly it may be one of Frost or Pedo that makes way, though neither deserve it.....nobody deserves to be dropped actually, one of the better team efforts in many years.

Had a concussion test at 3/4 time. Looked dazed in the huddle!

Forget Chip, he's poos and wees now.

Hmm, I worry about TMac getting caught behind too much given the way Riewoldt leads up. Perhaps Wagner can help out, also might cover him when he floats up the ground.

Hunt was okay, he's had a taste, now he needs to go back to Casey and learn how to use the pace he's been blessed with. Vince straight in for him. Not sure who goes out for Garlett? Pedo? Bit harsh on him, but Frost won't be dropped. Petracca maybe in if Brayshaw doesn't come up, or they think Oliver needs a rest.

I believe Melbourne, Richmond and the AFL have come to an agreement for this match.

Both teams can have an extra 3 players on the bench - at our request.

Hardwick agreed, as long as he can call the game off early when it's not going well.

Ultimately, our new zonal defence will be fighting Riewoldt, so Tommy won't be battling alone.

It is very difficult to tell when watching the game on TV how well defenders are doing their job. As the TV generally follows the ball, you can't necessarily get a sense of what defenders are doing to prevent their opponents from getting to the ball and how hard they work off the ball. However, what was noticeable about Dunn's game yesterday was the excellence of his kicking. I believe he has completely changed his kicking so that rather than the long but high kicks which covered distance but gave every man and his dog time to get under them, he now delivers more direct, low passes which hit their targets more quickly. Whether it's Dunn alone, or the coaches who have made that change, kudos. It makes Dunn's kicking a much more powerful weapon. (Now it's time for someone to teach that skill to Garland).

Well doesnt matter who corrected the kicking,it should have happened years ago. Cannot believe the coaches allowed high slow ball kicking at anytime. Made for more presssure so happy it appears to be fixed

Yeah watched the replay last night and instantly remembered, im not really sure how i forgot, it happened right infront of us. We were surprised he got up face hit the dirt and looked out of it for a bit, tough little bugger and thats why we love him.

After watching the game again, Bugg's stats flattered him. Very few of his possessions were creative, and his disposal is poor. He does offer defensive pressure, but I think others offer more. Frost had his best game, but still made a lot of errors, and not sure that he's required against the Tigers.

That's the way I saw Bugg's game.  He would have been a walk up start for every game over the last 5 seasons, but now that level of untidiness in disposal won't keep getting you a game.

Agree on Frost too.

Outs

Oliver, Bugg, Pederson

Ins

Vince Garlett (If fit) Petracca

I think this is the best game to unleash TRAC, if we can get the win it will be great for morale and will boost him even more playing in a winning team under lights at the G

He ran out the game well on the weekend so fitness wise should not be too bad, Put him on a HFF so he can ease into it

I understand Bugg was servicable on the weekend, but if we are truly to move up the ladder we need to be ruthless and cannot accept continuous poor disposal

Petracca is only up to 85% game time at VFL level.

He's not ready. Simple as that.

This is all talk from the coaches, There are a lot of players who play 85% game time even at AFL level, he is pulling up fine from games so then he will be ready. I understand they want to be cautious but as I said no one plays 100% game time at AFL level or VFL level anyway

85% game time at VFL level is a long way off 85% game time at AFL level.

He's just not ready, and after the selection committee messed up in round 2 we won't be taking chances.

Liking the management of Tracc. Another game or 2 at Casey. Get more gametime into him. Bang down the door harder.

Vince in for Oliver (rest)

If fit, Garlett for Bugg or MJones. As much as those 2 are playing well, Garlett is an upgrade.

Yeah you're right but he played 85% for the first time and with alot of time resting (i know its not a huge rest but not as hard as in the midfield) forward, give him time he will get there. A few more weeks all around 80-90% and he will get his chance. He is a class above already so he will get call up as soon as he is ready.

I also think the percentage of game time can be misleading.

Brayshaw found out ( as did the selectors) that the inability to go flat out for sustained periods whilst you are on the ground will cost the team at AFL level.

Oliver has had limited time but his time on ground has been at frantic AFL pace.

From reports of last week at Casey even at limited time Petracca was struggling in the last quarter - which means at AFL level he would be shot.

I want Petracca to play as badly as the next (Melbourne) man. There is no knock on his ability, there is confidence in his knee - they just need to be sure that he can go hard the time he is on the ground. There is no substitute for game time in your legs and that is exactly what Petracca is getting at Casey.

Don't mind the Tiges, long suffering supporters like the Dee's who have endured years of despair and disappointment. In more recent years they have had to suffer the ignominy of being called chokers.  Despite my Marxist views, I do see the value of the Indian caste system. It is the glue that keeps Indian society together although increasingly it is being challenged by the evils of capitalism. However, the Dalits or untouchables are a proud caste in their own way. I see the same characteristics of Tiges supporters. They have little hope of achieving Nirvana or even a better life in the next life.  The Melbourne Brahmins just need to watch their step as they walk through Yarra Park particularly around the trees and light towers where Tige supporters tend to urinate and defecate. It's always an idea to have a banana or apple to give them. Having some lose change is also recommended as part of having a charitable disposition. Food is always better than money so that they don't use the change for cigarettes or bourbon and coke.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
