Interesting thing on both those points. 

Point one, the numbers are surprising as I can definitely recall almost all those players having crucial involvements during the match. I get the feeling Hunt will be an unlucky one to go, Frost I can see being the other. 

Dont agree on the Dunn point. While I wouldn't have him as outstanding I feel he brings a stability to the backline that looked lost without him. Did do one poor piece of play from memory that was very lucky to not end up in a goal against.

Look he is a 1st year player that has a longgg future ahead of him, it's not like he will be replaced by a NQR player that we all hope will play well.

He was flattened in the 3rd Q. Did a concussion test and was back on in the 4th. So I don't think he's actually had a concussion, just more that he missed time during the game being evaluated for one.

He was flattened. Went off for a concussion test. Was peeved at having to go off as it is a minimum 20 mins off the ground. No concussion and came back on.

It is very difficult to tell when watching the game on TV how well defenders are doing their job. As the TV generally follows the ball, you can't necessarily get a sense of what defenders are doing to prevent their opponents from getting to the ball and how hard they work off the ball. However, what was noticeable about Dunn's game yesterday was the excellence of his kicking. I believe he has completely changed his kicking so that rather than the long but high kicks which covered distance but gave every man and his dog time to get under them, he now delivers more direct, low passes which hit their targets more quickly. Whether it's Dunn alone, or the coaches who have made that change, kudos. It makes Dunn's kicking a much more powerful weapon. (Now it's time for someone to teach that skill to Garland).

The problem with Supercoach  - you can smother the ball, shepherd, block and punch the ball away from your opponent all day and you will get no points. 

Most importantly and I will use Brayshaw and Kennedy especially as examples - they both had quieter games but continually crashed into contests. Whilst they may not have got the ball themselves by being physical and by not allowing easy ball to the opposition they helped our cause as we got our fair share of the ball from spills. Also pure defensive games ( like Dunn played on Sunday) get no credit in Supercoach. It is just not helpful in deciding who are our bottom performed players.

 

Edit - Lumumba scored 62 points and Howe 53 - only 9 points difference between them ? enough said.....

Given we've got so few injuries (touch wood), I reckon this thread should focus on who's our best 22 and how do we get from our side on the weekend to the best 22 without disrupting the team. We're all aligned that anyone dropped from the weekend is rough; but ultimately see half a dozen possible changes that could make us better. If we're going to do well in a difficult 2nd half of the season draw, we need to have a gelled team playing well together asap.

It rewards good kicks and handballs, marks, goals, tackles and taps - we know there is much more to a game than that - and there are nuances.

Our top super coach player this week was Bugg and whilst I thought he played well - some of his disposal was iffy and I would not have had him in our top 4. Cloke got points for kicking two goals - I thought he was poor and he got his two goals by handballs over the back to him alone in the square. However the goals did boost his rating.

They've certainly taught Tom McDonald the same thing. Heritier too, I'd say. Gosh it makes them more dangerous.

I havent seen the full replay of this weeks game but he played alright last week but still doesn't look ready to me. Needs more time I think,.

If he is fit and playing well he is best 22 but you can say that for many players  - this season ( and yes, I agree that he is struggling with fitness) he is down in disposals, marks, tackles compared to last season. Through the preseason and the first 3 games his form says he is not a walk up start in the 22. 

I'll ask again - with Vince and Gartlett back, which three would you drop next week to include him. 

22 of them I suspect.

Doubt he plays for a while but the important thing hes an 18 year old key forward playing very nice footy in the VFL.. looks like another home run for Jason Taylor and co.
