Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yes, and look I understand the knock on him but if he can kick 40+ goals for us he can sit in the goal square all day long. How many forwards kick 40+ goals. Of coarse the risk is will he perform to that level, but at the right price it's worth the gamble.

$200,000 is the lunch money budget for the year. It almost gives someone a 2nd player.

The Camry Crows are in a world of pain

Kick them while we can

For a cheap price I'd be on board with us getting Jenkins. We didn't have any prolific goal kickers this year and while his form has been off the last 18 months who knows what a change of location could do for him.

I wpuld not be surprise that we get towards the end of the trade period and throw a late pick towards Jenkins.

I think we are trying every alternative (Josh Bruce) and eventually if don't land who we want we'll go for Jenkins last minute.

Nor i. But if we do as you say it will be late you'd think. it is an untenable situation for Jenkins and the Crows and really he will have to go.

The Crows will become increasingly worried they won't be able to trade him so the later in the trade period it goes the more of his salary they might be willing to pay.

For how poor we were at scoring last year, I dont understand why we aren’t trying to lure both over, Jenkins is going to cost the same as JKH or Billy’s contract.  Give Tom and Weid some competition for spots.

itleast Casey will be strong also.

For those who want Jenkins, how do you see our forward six lining up if everyone is fit in Round 1 next year?

I was totally against him but, if he came for next to nothing on a minimum deal, then I could stomach it a little more... but where does he fit?  Who does he keep out of the side?  Do we go with a 31 year old towards the end of his career or stick with the Weid and his development?

Wouldn’t it be nice to have options for different scenarios Wiseblood? If Bruce and/or Jenkins come in and they play well enough to justify a spot it doesn’t really matter who they keep out. The who must get better to overtake them

I'd go something like this;

Tracc T-mac Fritsch

Lockhart Jenkins Melksham

We are still light on for a genuinely exciting small forward, not sure Butler really helps there either.

You need 2 real A-grade KPF's to have a number of good smalls, so we are stuck with Mid-size HFF's filling gaps

I'll also add, the way we tend to dump the ball into the 50 probably suits Jenkins. He'll win plenty of opportunities just out of panic from backmen infringing with his size close to goal.

You may well be correct @dazzledavey36

Just on that, do you happen to have the whiteboard list of the clubs preferred forwards to be drafted in perchance?

Yes he would be at that price, No way they are going to pay 600k for a player on someone elses list without a decent draft pick in return.

If they see him as a TFG (camp effected) player and will be toxic to their culture going forward with new coach they sure as hell will move heaven and earth to get a deal done.  If he is offering to take a $400k (total) pay cut they pay $350k and we pay $250k & pick 42 gets it done.

I'm not sure we'll go for either Bruce or Jenkins. We didn't appear to be open to play 3 tall forwards in 2019 so unless things change I can't see the current FD going down this route.

We hope like crazy Tmac stays fit.

We pray to the old Gods and the new that Weideman blossoms in 2020.

We bring in junk time Jenkins for insurance purposes.

It really is a no brainer.. he would be paid the minimum wage. He kicks goals, holds a structure as he never leaves the fwd line and while some people only see the negative Joe the goose goals, i tend to just see the goals, and for a team who couldnt kick any last year, then i cant see the downside.

Why has he yet to be linked to anyone of note then? By the sounds of that nearly every club should be falling over each other to get him. This assumption that his contract will cost a packet of Twisties ($200k a year as I recall Jon Ralph claiming) is ludicrous. The Crows arent going to fork out hundreds of thousands per year just to have him on another team's books.

They will if he is super unhappy AD.  Toxic to a new coach trying to start afresh with a relatively clean slate.

I don't think he's worth signing at his age. I've watched him really slow down the last few years. He used to have decent 20-50m pace with leads and obviously has the strength in one on one contests but I don't think he's going to come back to the form he showed a few years back.

However it is interesting to see if Melbourne will look to sign another tall forward for depth now that Smith and Keilty are gone. With Frost leaving Petty will move back as a defender.

We have some depth with medium sized marking options in Fritsch, Trac, Melk and Hannan. But in terms of tall forwards it's pretty much McDonald and Weid....

The forward line was our weakest position last year and is looking worse pre trades this year. Tomlinson can float forward in bursts but hasn't shown any consistency there nor is that the position we signed him for. Hopefully we can make at least one move and Joel Smith + Vanders can get healthy to add to that list.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
