Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A big maybe from me. I see Weed as another 2 seasons from being a big bodied forward in his own right and he needs further support until such time.

Wouldn't go near him, this bloke is way too soft, can't play as a key forward.

Easy to dismiss a trade idea, but who would you realistically target instead? Or go into next year unchanged up forward?

I repeat, more classy small forwards added to medium forwards in Petracca, Fritsch & Melksham. Collingwood looking fantastic with one tall forward since Cox is out plus Richmond only play 2 talls and 4 small/mid forwards.

We have NO small classy forwards but at least we have 3 or 4 tall forwards in Tom Mac, Weed, Petty & Preuss.  Therefore, to me the overwhelming need is that we need to go get our Rioli, Tipinwooty, Charlie Cameron etc plus our Isaac Smith, Ed Langdon etc before we recruit anymore talls.

Jamie Elliot would be decent, given he's only given 1 year contract last year and their cap might be stretched. Although buyer beware if Bucks puts him on the trade table (injuries), would have to be a stealth offer to usurp them and good enough dosh to get him to leave a current finals contender..

In every sport, it is the goal-scorers, the finishers who are the hardest to find.

In 2019, our goal scoring was one of our main issues. We were atrocious.

Surely we would consider him. Our main needs are for a pacy small forward and for Weed to develop, but there can be no harm in adding Jenkins at the right price.

I would be offering $$ and pick 3 to get Ben King from the GCS

Can't really decide if I'm keen or not, I guess for the right price he gives us some mature KPF depth, but will be 31 when next season starts.

There's a fair bit of talk coming out of Adelaide football circles that we have now expressed an interest. It's the old mate of a mate, but the connection seems legit, so seems a fair chance to be true IMO. Doesn't guarantee we get him of course.

I feel the same way LN. H e has had a very good 4/5 years and kicked alot of goals, he reads the play well, and if we play to his strengths then he could be handy.

Fritsch kicked 16 goals (13 behinds - 29 possible goal chances ) in the last 7 weeks, if you extrapolate that he is a 40+ goal a year fwd, in a year when kicking goals has been our problem then i suspect a player who has averaged 43 goals a year for the last 6 years Jenkins should be player seriously considered.

Yeah, he probably takes some of the pressure off TMac and Weid, replaces Bull's spot on the list (heard he was possibly retiring?), and then gives Fritsch the freedom to jump on all of their backs.

I just reckon we are in the position that everything should be considered. And when we get it going Inside 50 just about as much as anyone in the comp the good players who kick goals are better in your team that then oppositions.  All the top 8 teams have 2-3 players that have kicked around the 40 plus. we had it last year, we need it again.

Couldn't agree more with the gist and bulk of that GWD ...but...

in addition we are in desperate need of a strong mobile contested marking beast who can finish with reasonable accuracy (Jenkins would not be on my 250km radar!).

T-Mac would be my only 'lock' into 2020.  The spine needs a genuine KF beast and we failed to replace a mobile / roaming HHF contested marking / intercept one in Hogan.

And Lucifer forbid....'What if' Tommy went down with a similar injury in pre-season or first few rounds next year!??

It's no coincidence we haven't been an occasional finals contender since Neita retired.

If wishes were horses!

  • 2 weeks later...

If this was the NBA and not AFL, he'd be a classic salary cap dump, if we had the cap space we'd trade pick 38 for Jenkins and also get pick 26 (as things stand now) for taking on his contract. Unless Adelaide pay a significant amount of his rumored $500k per season for the next 2 years then I can't see any club really being interested.

just rumours at this stage, but everything will come down to this crazy review that the afc are doing

i really hope we're not as keen as i think we might be...

I would suggest we are as i have heard similar and that it will also depend on the coach at AFC, but there is legit interest.

Interest in Josh Jenkins from us?

Firstly, that makes me feel a little ill.

Secondly, gotta love the 'that's what I've heard', which is likely to come from pub talk or a comment on a Facebook page.

Take it or leave it, i have heard it, i never professed to say where or who from, I'm in the industry and just repeating it because i thought that might be of interest on a page dedicated to possible Josh Jenkins availability. Go figure..

So I heard that Josh Jenkins will stay in Adelaide.  Heard it from my inside sources.

It's pretty easy to do.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
