The closest thing to Robert Flower! Rob Murphy enscapulates all that is good about the game.

He is one of the most skilful players ever to pull on a boot, Scrupulously Fair, Brilliant leader and spiritual host of the Bulldogs push into greatness this year!

The closest thing to Robert Flower we have in the current climate!

I hope that he recovers quickly and plays in finals and decides to call quits on his terms!!

He is a champion and ornament to the game1

Good luck Rob!

I understand that you are not making a direct comparison as players between Murphy and Flower but there is daylight between them both

Murphy is very, very good. Flower was brilliant.

Really hope it's not as serious as everyone believes. I have great respect for him as a player and a person. Best of luck to him with (hopefully) coming back.

Without trying to be disrespectful, he leaves a massive hole in their back half and I wouldn't be surprised to see it have a big effect. His disposal, leadership and run and carry is vital to them. I hope he gets back, because he seems like he's a good bloke, but it's a pretty big blow to the Doggies and it makes the game against them in Round 8 a lot more winnable.

Terrible news. It sounds like an ACL which is devastating.

Hope he makes it back, and if he doesn't, I hope the Dogs win the flag for him (and also for the rest of this corrupt competition where only the same rich and powerful clubs win flags over and over again. Boring!)

Also, him doing his knee allowed Sicily to mark unopposed and slot the winner. Double whammy, and even a triple whammy you consider my multi that relied on the doggies winning.

In all seriousness though, I hope he gets back for next year and they can give it a good shake.

I thought they were shot when Libba Jr went down and they didnt miss a stride, I reckon they have some belief that will keep them performing. I like Murphy, but am in shock PF said something agreeable.

Was watching it when he did it. You could tell straight away it was major. He just had that look on his face of, "It hurts so bad that I can't even react." He was completely emotionless.

Never understood all the love for Murphy, on or off the field.

Just like I've never understood what drives certain members of the Demonland community to make some of the comments they do.

I hope his injury is not too bad. He's a terrific player and seems like a great bloke and deserves to be a part of the success they are having at the moment.

Yep one of my faves outside of melbourne. I used to love reading his columns in the age. A good guy who has been loyal to his dogs even through the bad times and deserves to be part of the success. More annoying is it was in the dying seconds as well.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
