Second Heppell thread in days....

What did he say anyway? seen any articles

He said he can't be certain he'll be at Essendrug next year, when a good player says that you might as well be declaring open season and Windy Hill firing up the air raid sirens because they could legitimately lose Heppell, Hurley and Hooker and go into the draft with picks 1,2,3 and 4

the last report i saw stated that Hooker had been offered 900k by Freo, 750k by Hawks and the Roos were in the process of putting a good offer together as well.

Even as someone who hates drugs in sport, and the Essendon Football Club, this continual, droning 'drug cheat' mantra gets up my nose.

The Essendon players fully deserved their penalty, for their naiveity if nothing else. But they were also badly deceived by poor management practices and unconscionable conduct by their club. At the end of 2016, they will have served their time and deserve to continue playing. We no longer transport people for seven years for stealing a loaf of bread, do we?

I'd have Heppell in a heartbeat. Whether he wants to come to Melbourne, stay at Essendon, or go elsewhere is another matter. Anyway, what's a better continuing punishment for Essendon than losing some of their best (suspended) players?

Now, once and for all, which part of the AFL is on drugs and which part isn't????

If they leave as free agents they will be Delisted Free Agents which don't attract compensation. Unless the AFL decides to make up rules on the fly. Which they almost certainly will.

They would move heaven and earth to ensure there will be compensation. Take that to the bank.

Announcing a new category of free agent: the Delisted Victimised and Cruelled by ASADA and CAS Free Agent.

It's been introduced as part of the AFL's community support programme for women, indigenous communities, cancer survivors and Diggers. It's an integral part of growing the game in Australia and overseas.

Quite ridiculous especially considering with any academy/FS picks a team like Carlton or Brisbane may finish 2nd last and end up with something like pick 7 or 8. I wonder if other clubs will kick up a stink about any draft concessions the Bombers get like they did when we applied for a PP.

This may have something to do with his recent statements - Dyson Heppell's million-dollar legal claim

33 to go.

We would have to be in the frame to land Heppell. A poster on here claimed a couple months back that Heppell would be leaving Essendon (and cited Heppell's brother as a source). Based on that - and the currently events - I think Heppell becomes a target for us. Hopefully he was close with Melksham and Goodwin. Heppell is a gun, he would add a lot to our midfield.

Hey KingDingAling,

Any chance you remember who it was / thread it was on? Jamin and Aaron are straight bat sort of guys - I cannot imagine they would have hinted that Dys would be leaving the Dons at all. The boys are pretty good at playing all cards close to their chests and not saying anything until after it has happened. Most importantly, they dont lie or misinform. If they were to have said something (as previous poster has mentioned) then take that as gospel and get your cheque books out.

If these EFC players both sue and play for Essendrug, then surely it would require the EFC admin to put the boot into the past admin and Hird to show a clean break from the past.  Since I can't see that happening because of the reaction of the one-eyed fan base, I doubt if any player will both sue and play. Interesting to see.

The legal process of players suing the club will be by nature adversarial and leave a bad taste in all parties mouths... Making the likelihood of the player being disenfranchised and leaving high.

Im some ways it's a shame as the Dons will make some progress toward rebuilding their team will all the high draft picks the AFL is going to hand them for the exodus.

Hopefully they Prendigast themselves.

I'd be very surprised if the Hawks paid Hooker 750k a year.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
