Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What was even sweeter is that was a 'press red for Ed game'.

Rumour has it they had this weeks game pencilled in a month ago for 'press red for Ed'...

I wonder who would have allegedly pulled the plug on this?

None. Absolutely none.

Agree wholeheartedly with all of this except that "it's a big ask to get up each week". No, it isn't. Practically every other team does it and if we want to play finals, that's the benchmark.

Besides kicking 3 or 4, I'm not sure Harmes could have done much more. I'm not his biggest fan, but he had 10 tackles (a team high). Going by the footage of Petracca down at Casey, Harmes will be getting a game before him based solely on his defensive pressure.

Just Cloke or even Moore. Anyone could bob up against us if we're not switched on.

Adam  you cynic.  Surely you haven't ever seen a MFC team going into a "should win" match, not switched right on, have you? ?

Wonder if the Tiger's fans thought that before Fasolo almost single-handedly delivered the Pies only win for the season?

And recent MFC teams seem to do so well at tagging the likes of Harvey, Merritt (x2) etc ???

A big challenge for the coaching panel to get those  vital match ups just right.

Yeah, take out Brent Harvey this would have looked different and it most likely would have been a different result too...#gun

Fremantle has effectively demonstrated that experience counts for nought! Let's see what happens this weekend when the two most experienced teams face off against each other!

interesting.  do you know if that is starting 22 or the squad?

north are almost an average of 28yo!  fook me.  bad list management anyway you slice it.

we will struggle to win consistently (and make finals) until we get closer to 100 games.  keep the same team together this year with not too many injuries and our ave should go up to where the dogs are now which could mean a big year next year

You look at that list and you have to admit the Giants have recruited so well. Their age mix is so good. St kilda is a bit of a seesaw they are either old or young not many in the middle, once their older boys retire they are gonna fall down that list pretty far. And richmond making the finals the past few years seems even more surprising! I would have had them around 90/95 games if i was to guess

I can't believe the current betting market. Collingwood are warm Favourites 1.45 to us at 2.75.  I can accept the favoritism on The Pies side of the ledger but I would've expected 1.80 to 2.20 for example.  They are playing horrible football.

This is good news for us. But I agree, shows the respect people have for MFC.

We play better as underdogs. The odds don't worry me and I am going on Sunday expecting a strong win!

See, this is what's confusing. When we're underdogs we play better which makes us favourites which means we're no longer underdogs which means we're no longer favourites which means we're now the underdogs which means we play better...

Nope. That doesn't wash anymore - we've been told we have to put up with that for 10 years.

In actual fact, the 'inexperience' was just hiding mostly rubbish lists.

We've got the players now win games of footy against middle of the road teams.

Where we will lose out still is in tight situations against good teams like North, where that inexperience is genuinely the difference between winning and losing.

Yes it does. And that's where we lost it against Norf - lack of tight game experience, lack of composure, lack of wise heads able to grab the game and win it.

The form of inexperienced sides can fluctuate more from game to game too.

Yeah i agree with this, I think we need one of them in though we have to expose the young talent to AFL. and also his idea of a HBF coming in for a potentially unavailable Garlett doesnt really make any sense, that would leave us with Wagner, Salem, H and Hunt all playing the more or less same role! I like Hunt and wanna see him have a run but 1 of the other 2 will need to come out first.

I also agree with selection "ping pong" (i like that terminology i might steal that later haha) they need to pick one and stick with it. Whoever they play this week should be assured of the next 3/4 weeks to give em a chance at getting some form. If then they arnt firing then maybe revisit the other or dare I say drop them both for dawes if he is fit.

The ping pong needs to go to Frost this week. Two tall opposition forwards killed us last year. Daniher and Cloke. Guess what we went in short against Essendon this year and Daniher killed us again. We need to play Frost as a defensive forward but have him as a backup incase collingwoods ball movement is good and Cloke starts out marking Dunn and Macdonald.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
