Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm in the surprise camp this weekend. Thinking ANB and Hunt to come in, covering any speed and in and under Collingwood might be thinking about.

V berg and Bernie out, Still thinking about the rest, and beat them at their own game.

Would Frost be a good match up on someone like Cloke?

Great closing speed and height with the ability to spoil and not get out wrestled.

Thoughts?

Good thought in my opinion.Frost has not made it as a forward so far, seems more suited as a tall back, therefore defnately worth a try.

I was told before round 1 that VDB was having ankle issues even before he rolled it and was having a lot of trouble getting it right.

Didn't think much of it then but it seems it may be the case, if so why would they play him, been pretty ineffectual.

Agree...it's hard to take but another great learning curve especially last match. Being beaten by Essendon was a real shame in our progress.

I think theres a chance Petracca does come in and plays permanent forward alongside Hogan , with Watts spending more time in the midfield to help cover the loss of Bernie

None. Absolutely none.

Isn't it intriguing when the media move the spotlight from club to club depending on outcomes from each weekend.......I guess that's part and parcel of AFL and has been for a while, but the media exposure pours it on as if they're looking for a kill.

Despite Buckley having been re-signed or having passed go for a..... "Contract extension" (you know that arcade rally game where everytime you cross the finish line you get a "time extension!"), the heat is on at the Pies at 1-2 having been spruiked - and even spruiked themselves - as possible premiership contenders, looking to finish in the higher realms of the top 8.

Our Dees were the biggest losers at Round 2 and now face a backs-to-the-wall Pies outfit determined to click into gear. It's a big ask to get up each week, but the Dees must play at the standard they set themselves. Each. Week.

Get passed Round 4 - and without wanting to look at weeks in advance - and it will no doubt be the same predicament - a severe focus on the "Contract extension" Dimma coached Tigers. Make no mistake, a Tigers outfit at 1-3 on Anzac Eve will be huge. Book early.....

Agree wholeheartedly with all of this except that "it's a big ask to get up each week". No, it isn't. Practically every other team does it and if we want to play finals, that's the benchmark.

This looms as possibly our biggest match for the year, same for the pies. A loss to either team is disastrous, while a win gets the other back on track. Expect the Pies to come out absolutely firing in the first 10 minutes similar to the bombers, we wilted at this increased pressure last time but we have to match it and go beyond.

Brayshaw was underdone v Bombers, he will be ready to go this week. Garlett was expected to get up for the Kanags game according to Misso, if he isn't right for this week I will never believe another word that comes out of his mouth.

Harmes had a much improved performance on the weekend but still is not doing enough, and AVB missed a sitter and has had pretty low output for the first few rounds. These two I don't expect to be dropped but they are in the firing line once Petracca is good to go.

We're going to need some big performances this week, we have to bring what we had from the start of the 2nd quarter to this game. No more honourable losses, no more yoyo performances, get the bloody job done.

Besides kicking 3 or 4, I'm not sure Harmes could have done much more. I'm not his biggest fan, but he had 10 tackles (a team high). Going by the footage of Petracca down at Casey, Harmes will be getting a game before him based solely on his defensive pressure.

He's pretty sore apparently, i don't think Bucks will be keen to let him anywhere near Jack Viney so i'm pretty certain he will play half back. in which case i hope Hogan and Frost are instructed to put him to ground ( fairly ) every chance they get.

I'd send Bugg to Treloar and try and limit his influence, outside him they don't have many match winners.

Just Cloke or even Moore. Anyone could bob up against us if we're not switched on.

Garlett for Vanders and Brayshaw for Vince looking more likely.

The question will be does Brayshaw play half back and mid like Vince has or more his usual forward/mid with some time on the wing. I wouldn't mind trialling him at half back at some stage of the game.

I think Frost gets another week over Pedersen.

And I think Bugg should as well and I'd definitely put him on Treloar.

That's a kind of interesting idea. He's good on the sling-shot is Brayshaw, with that penetrating kick of his.

I've got a gut feeling that its all going to click for the Dees either this week or the week after and we're going to see a complete domination similar to that game against Sydney in the Bailey era where we absolutely blew them away. It's gotta happen sooner or later,

Just like Essendrug are.  Let's hope the players don't share these thoughts.

Let's hope they do think exactly that, and put them to the sword.

You can think the other team is rubbish without waltzing around like you don't need to try.

There's no reason for us to go in constantly with this negative attitude thinking that we have to be scared of the other team to play well against them.

Wonder if the Tiger's fans thought that before Fasolo almost single-handedly delivered the Pies only win for the season?

Really interested to see if Angus is selected, and if one full game back at Case was enough to get his fitness up

And we pray Jeffys ankle is cherry ripe

One week isn't enough to get his "fitness up", but it's enough to determine whether he's fully recovered from his knee and played in a fashion that showed he was AFL ready.

Reported on the news Hogan has been carrying a calf injury but is expected to play, Garlett will have a fitness test friday morning that will decide if he'll play and Brayshaw is expected to come in for Vince.

Said Petracca is still a couple of weeks off

Would this be what he went down to the rooms for at Qtr time against the bombers? Or is this different?

Been a while since a good player has been suspended but we have had 2 such good quality players coming in.

Brayshaw has played three cobweb blowers now - one of them just happens to have been in the seniors. He should be well and truly right to go now you'd think.

Agree with the two forced changes only. Brayshaw in and Garlett if fit, ANB if not.

Jetta on Fasolo will be an interesting.

Will be a good battle. Couldn't think of anyone else going to Fasolo, but I'd be a little worried about Fasolo muscling Jetta out of the contest. Having said that, Jetta is bloody tenacious so will fight hard.

A few thoughts

* Not sure Jeffy will be fit and if not HUNT comes in!

* Pederson replaces Frost who cannot play forward which also has dual effect of using Pedo as chop out for Max, when this occurs Hogan moves to CHF Jacky goes to FF and others rotate through HF

* Stretch keeps his place on a wing but needs to lift and eliminate errors

* ANB adds another dimension to forward mid field rotations

* Guss comes in for extra "Grunt" factor

A well balanced team to beat Collingwood I think!

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
