Hard to tell if you're being serious here Jumbo or taking the pizz.  Watts dropped some marks he should have taken, but his intensity and pressure has improved 1000% on previous seasons.  There is no way he gets dropped.  People can single out players as having 'lost' us the game by a single action, but games are made up of lots of single actions and it rarely comes down to one mistake that games are won or lost.  If you are being serious why did you nominate Watts  as opposed to AVB who missed a soda from 20 metres and would have tied the game up for us?  

Outs:

AVB - off the pace and not finding enough of it ATM - am a fan but needs to find some touch.

Bugg - not sure that he will be dropped, he's hard at it and seems a logical match up for Pendlebury or Sidebottom, but we need to inject more class. 

Vince - if suspended (hoping for a fine)

Ins:

Garlett - absolute given

Petracca - Cometh the hour, cometh the man - big stage - big opponent.  This isn't throwing a boy to the wolves like we did with Watts.  If not this week then maybe against the Tigers.  I'm excited. 

Brayshaw - for Vince if suspended.  ANB is unlucky to miss out again.

I hope we trounce them. I would really like a 10-goal win at some point this year.

I'm pretty sure Roos was quoted as saying he was brought in a week too early, if that tracks he should have been playing this week. Brayshaw dominated VFL, no need to hold the kid back any longer. 

If Vince gets done (I haven't even seen the incident) easy swap Vince for Brayshaw. If not I feel Stretch or Wagner could be the unlucky one to miss out. 

As for who comes in for Garlett, it again could be one of those two. First half Kent was on the chopping block but boy he turned that around! Perhaps Vanders.

Carey. The beauty of it is that as Clarry develops he'll attract more tacklers, freeing teammates not only from entering the scrum but potentially dragging an extra man down in the tackle. Carey used to wait for the extra contact, lift the arms and release. Incredible strength.

Kent kicked four, but Garlett is better, one most probably needs to go for Garlett going on where they play.

Our small/mid sized forwards need to start adding some strings to their bow and take on more midfield minutes (I think this is why Bugg has been an automatic so far as he can go into the midfield). Kent, Harmes and Vanders  all need to lift in this department. Garlett already does his turn in the middle (and is probably one of the most damaging mids in the team), but we need him forward as he's clearly our best forward. I fear for Kent because I can't see him having the endurance (especially with that body shape of his Tapscott 2.0) to contribute any midfield minutes, so as soon as Petracca is fit, I reckon Kent is a goner. Harmes I have more hope for. Vanders surely needs to be in the middle a bit more (I'm guessing they're easing him back into full match fitness ?). 

This season is going to be a massive challenge for Kent, he's going to have to improve his endurance if he wants to remain best 22, unfortunately I think he's destined to be backup to cover injuries to either Garlett or CP5 in the future, and I reckon he'll leave for opportunities elsewhere when his contract expires.

I suggested last week switching the Vanders/Tyson roles. I'm not sure VB needs a rest rather than getting his hands on the ball early. If I recall last year he was a bit of a confidence player and he certainly looked more damaging in his extended Nab 1 duties.

Don't know why he wasted 2 minutes on the HB line deciding what to do with the ball when he could have bombed a torp into the goal square. I thought that indecision at that time was confounding.

Look at the difference he made. Petrie and Brown had next to no impact. Could've used him a week earlier.

Keen to see H play on Howe, as we all know Howe won't chase to we will have a heap of extra run and carry off half back.

I would be tempted to keep the same side with the only inclusion being Garlett. We were only short by a bit of luck and a reasonable umpiring decision. The guys fought back extremely well and they should all be hurting and wanting to make amends next week.

I haven't seen yesterday's game, but the selection issue for me is about a second ruckman. I don't mean a second ruckman specifically for next week's game but backup in case Gawn can't play. With injuries to our nominated replacements (ie, Spencer, King) we need to find someone else who could at least get around the ground and contest all day. I can't see Pedersen being able to do that, or Dawes. But I can see Frost doing so. I think the longer-term needs of the team require Frost to play more game time in the seniors as the second ruck and extra tall up forward. He's only played 5 games for us and is clearly a work in progress, but he needs games in the seniors to build his understanding of how to play that rucking role.

Frost 2016 averages: 6.5 disposals, 3 marks, 0.5 hit outs, 0.5 tackles, 25 afl fantasy points

There is a difference but its not huge. If you had to choose between the two it would be Pedersen. If Frost is in the side for tackling pressure (and Bernie Vince has more hit outs than him) then he needs to lift!!

Pedersen was good against Frankston where he shared ruck duties to cover for Mitch King.  Only upside with Frost is that he cannot get any worse and he is young - where i think Pedersen is playing close to his best

Playing as a tall forward at Melbourne is going to make anyone look bad.

What bothers me about Frost is that he's had many games where he just doesn't get near it very much. Can't help but wonder whether he'd be better having a few games at Casey getting a lot of game time and much more involvement, and see whether he can actually do the swing-man thing for which he seems to have been built. Or at least to work out if he can actually play forward. If he really can't have an impact playing forward at a lower level, he's not going to do it in AFL.

With his athleticism he looks like he should have a lot of upside. But unless he really gets into the game, we'll never find out.

And if he can't compete against VFL rucks, he's not going to cut it against the likes of Goldstein & Mumford.

Even if he's nothing more than a competent tall defender, we'll never know unless he sees far more of the ball.

It's a 1%er for mine. Both are inadequate rucks, and Gawn seems capable of carrying most of the duties now. Pedersen may hold more marks, but realistically Watts and Hogan are the marking targets; a third just clogs the forward line as we've seen.

Now that I've seen Frost in person I'd persist. He has some serious athletic traits; with some time to settle and comfortable I think he can be good a player. I don't support the view that he should be played as a defender, I think that wastes his athletic traits, and you'd need to also play Pedersen in that instance as you can't really ruck when you have the job on a key tall.

Not so much on this page - but there's a lot of support for ANB to come into the team.  Can someone explain why?  I don't have a view on him either way - simply curious why so many are keen on him.

As for changes - suspect they'll be kept to a minimum - ie only changes will be based on what's happening with Garlett and Vince.

Couple of good works of really good form. He's quick and can find the goals. I would have had him in against North to replace Garlett as he can be a bit of a goal sneak/crumber.
