Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Your quote from Misson doesn't sound like the club is in total control of his recovery plan.

Glad someone else sees it that way.

H has had a couple of concussions. Pleased that the club is being responsible and prudent in putting his longer-term health and well-being first.

If there are other issues, presumably the club will deal with those as well. If they are private issues, the club is right to protect individual player's privacy.

Is it a reasonable assumption to guess that The Prince is in Rio? He is not at the club, we know that much and it seems Misson doesn't know much more either.

Melbourne injury list: round 22
Sam Weideman (quad) – available
Jeff Garlett (skin infection) – test
Ben Newton (knee) – 1 week
Heritier Lumumba (concussion) – long-term injury list

You can add Mitch King as well, I would suggest.

Must be the best injury list at such a late stage in the season in about the last 40 years!

I was a bit of a Ben Newton fan last season when he was on the fringe and kicked a coupla sausage rolls for us. This season I've nearly forgot he exists with everyone else tearing it up for the Scorps.

We have definitely had an amazing run with injury this year. Very lucky stuff but also the fitness/medical staff deserve some congrats also

It's something we supporters have just taken for granted too. Very unlikely to be this good again next year, statistically speaking. All the more reason to maintain strength at Casey and hold onto those players who might otherwise be looking for a senior gig somewhere else. If they stay, likelihood is they'll get their chance.

Will they? Not too many older brigade in our 22 who will be giving it away soon, clearing space.
Bernie & Jones the 2 closest, and they're not really that close.

3 years ago, Misson stated that it would take 3 years to get this team to AFL fitness, a lot of posters had a go at him and some very nasty comments have been made over the three years

This year has been the least amount of injuries that the club has had for as long as I can remember.

Misson was right.

He may well be right and certainly the team look fit (which is his job) - and they need to be to play our game style.

But the lack of injuries would have little to do with increased fitness. Luck is the key factor.

A good medical team no doubt helps and if anyone deserves kudo its them. Though the low number of muscle injuries could be in part credited to misson and his team

Didn't he say that at the start of the Neeld years? Or am I making that up?

That would make it 5 years ago, no?

How many players do we still have on the list from that time? Without checking, I'd say not many have been at MFC for longer than 3 years!

Undeeterred is right, he said that 5 Years ago.

We have 10 players from 2012, 7 players from 2013 and another 8 players who have been in the system with other clubs at least since 2013, but many much longer, eg Lumumba and Vince.

That's a total of 25. However, the irony is that many of the players who have been a mainstay, (or played big roles),  in the team for much of the year have only been in the system for two or less years - Oscar, Wagner, Brayshaw, Oliver, Petracca, Vandenberg, Stretch, and this week add Neale-Bullen and Weideman.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
