It's pretty gritty. Like a police ad. Makes it seem like we're lurking in the night and ready to pounce. It's professional looking at least and it ties us to the city but interestingly doesn't show the MCG

Yeah I have to admit that escaped me but you're right. For me it's one of those things that's been a "must have" in any previous MFC add. Could've had one of the projections onto the MCC stand or something.

I liked the ad, nothing too crazy and gets to the point: we're the club of the city.

I always envisaged a commercial where Nathan Jones carjacks a family in a Range Rover headed to Falls Creek (returning them to the G') and Brayshaw lays a flying tackle on a young snow boarder about to commence a Buller black run.

Thanks for adding a sensible dose of absurdity RTG. I was just about to post a question about the purpose of these adds versus the cost.

What does the club expect to gain from them? I'm presuming most/all of the above posters are members - do we expect to gain new members? These adds would cost a squillion - does the money come entirely from the club? Is there a proven or measurable  benefit?

I looked at the ad BBO and it's professional yadda yadda yadda but I also thought it was a bit of a snore fest. Just one persons opinion.

I like the idea of our players dressed as street thugs going on a violent rampage through Fed Square.

Then they team up with other gangs and form a supergang like the riffs.

Then they have to make it to Jolimont without being killed.

Can you dig it???

Sounds too much like a Michael Jackson video to me. Beat It or Thriller. I do not want to see Bitters break out into dance, thank you very much.

To that, Moonshadow, I say why not? I've just taken another look at the ad. I guess it's ok but I'm with BBO in terms of not being sure who it is designed to attract beyond Biffen's suggestion of Apex debutees. The voice over sounds like the bloke from Simon Reynold's Grim Reaper aides ad from a long time ago.

When compared to previous years ads, it's Oscar material.

i think daniel has the cost benefit report, bbo, but you'll need to lodge a foi request to see it but it will all be redacted and out of date by the time you get it

DC my thought is the ad is very good but it cost a few $. But when and where does the ad get a run during the season with the average punter? In past years I have seen a number of clubs produce video promotions but where do they run after that? What is the point of this?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
