Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

From the MFC website:

"He's training fully with the group and he's essentially recovered from the toe injury but he's only done two weeks of training coming off an ACL," Misson said.

"We want him to have at least four weeks of full training before we let him play."

I took that to mean 4 weeks back-dated to when he recommenced full training. Wishful thinking perhaps, but based on all reports I struggle to believe that right now he's a month away from senior football.

What the hell is this?? 'But he's only done two weeks of training after coming of an ACL?

He did this last year, would have done all the rehab and should be totally over the Knee reconstruction. Two weeks full training ? I dont get this!

Anyone else smell a Rat?

No, he has been rehabbing since Xmas, he now has to continue the rest of his full pre season training

When you look at the TV vision of CP 5, he looks anything but an AFL footballer. Thick legs, heavy body and floppy arms.

However, from speaking to those who have seen him play, we are in for a treat. He is special.

Thanks for the report though Dee!

I love this comment and it is exactly what we as a club have been lacking... A match winner that other supporters want to punch in the face because he has swagger and takes the best defender every week!

We are on the way people.... This year is going to be fun!

Does that mean they would have to let go of something else to do that?

I've never said this because it's simply inviting ridicule but he reminds me of a young Buddy Franklin . . .

The only other thing worth commenting on is that Hoges was sporting long white socks - not quite the same as doing a Fabulous Phil with white boots, but not far off. He was typical Hoges - quite a character who is starting to remind me more of Jack Riewoldt. I didn't stay till the end so I can't comment on how many goals he slotted or whether he was doing his Kennedy stutter impersonation.

Sadly, I couldn't agree more, although I'd be tempted to throw a Kyrgios comparison into the equation to RE the Schwarz comments.

Interchange cap, expect players to need longer blocks of training coming back from long injuries to 1. be able to run out the games and 2 being able to run them out so comfortably that they aren't risking injuries, CP5 is a gun and definitely worth the wait.

I'm not sure what you're smelling (or looking to smell), I would say they are taking an extremely cautious approach with him. ACLs appear to be a knee injury that has a higher reoccurrence rate than others so we want to get this right the first time. Also we are in a bit of a luxurious position where we are doing (touch wood) well with injuries so there is no need to rush him. Don't forget, the toe injury happened during his rehab for his knee injury. This means he had to rehab both injuries which pushed him back.

I think you're hearing hoofbeats and thinking zebras.

Has little to do with the knee, more to do with missing so much footy and training.

Any player coming off a long term injury usually has to do 4 weeks of full training before they play. It's been a constant of the Misson era.

Without it they are a big risk of cramping early/not being fit, soft tissue injuries and other injuries from lack of game style training. Not to mention they need it for touch.

His arms seem to go all over the place, when he walks or runs. It is a funny look to me. However, they are long, which gives him a good reach and obviously help him with marking.

I am more excited to see him play, than any other player I can recall, in the last several years. One of my workmates has seen him play several times and describes him as a freak.

His comment after the draft to me was, "you should thank God the Saints needed a key forward".

That's what they said about a young skinny kid that rocked up to training. They gave him No2, and the rest is history.

When I 1st saw Petracca in the flesh and I made mention in a training report, that he was built like a brick outhouse ,,,  etc

Now for a few comparsions.

A.Jakovich 187cm 98 kgs

Some noting how big Hulett is already 194 cm 94 kgs

Petracca 186 cm 94 kgs

And the best tree trunk legs ever, Brad Hardie 181 cms 88 kgs

It all comes down to what the player thinks or plays best at whatever weight he prefers.

I won't be expecting Petracca to be pushed off the ball too easy. In fact I hope he comes up and runs through a skinny runt who;s name we no longer mention around here. If Petracca lives up to the hype and stays fit. There will be more than one player running off for a change of shorts in what we hope will be a long and successful career in the red and blue.

I watched training yesterday and Pettacca in particular do some pretty freakish things.

He took a couple of really great contested marks against Garland. He just totally out-bodied him.

I saw Jonesy's reaction. He was standing on the boundary and grabbed the teammate next to him and pointed with excitement at what he just witnessed.

I seriously can't wait.

Excitement is growing!!!

Gary Ablett Snr? ?

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
