Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That picture may very well be the reason we're playing there. Not as a form of strategic management but that we're beholden to the AFL. Jackson, cash bail-outs and playing in the Top End may well be a package deal.

We get money from playing there.

Good coaches and good players cost money.

Good coaches and good players win you games.

I don't think anyone is saying we're playing there for any reason other than the money.

What is the Prime Objective ?

Everything is secondary to that.

Is that the best you can do?

we haven't won anything up there for five years. The week after would be no better.

Players and coaches want to be part of September. This deal. keeps us out of that equation

Comes a point you grow up and say 'fcuk that' that was then , this isnowand you back and hard.

Stuff Gil and his Clowns. Eddie would never stand for such hamstringing.

When a deal isno longer to advantage, scrap it and develop anew one.

Have no interest.. And no care about any Darwin Dees efforts.

They cost us .

How much is 8 points worth ?

How much a disappointment to win 10 games and not 12 and not see finals action ( which btw would add to membership, add to the bottom line.

But you're arguing the deal a result of Jackson's administrative wisdom. Maybe he/we have no choice.

No I'm not. I'm saying he knows how much we need money and know how to make it.

I wise sage PM'd me some time ago and suggested it is better to ignore some posters as they may be mad as cut snakes, and believe me I steer well clear of cut snakes. As it turns out the sage may well be right. I offer this to all here that scratch their heads and start pounding the keys only to be confronted with more of the same. Run away!

We're effectively still in administration. But it's a gentle kind where the AFL appointed competent and agreeable counsel to argue autonomously on our behalf. I'm sure we agreed to a road-map and that requires some give and take over time. We have a solid bargaining chip in being the MFC. I'd contend our trips to the Top End are entirely pointless long-term but it's imperative for the AFL to maintain a presence there as to media deals and development. Look at the media article - the first couple paras are serious damage control - we're in negotiations with the NT and the AFLs market development manager. The radio interview that Lucifer's pointed out was PJ reminding the AFL what we want in return - an Etihad-free future.

If Hawthorn can sell their games to Tassie, we can do the same. I'd rather every game played at the 'G, but I'd also rather my club making money.

This rubbish about NT=loss of premiership points, is just that. Rubbish. How anyone could have a problem with the selling of one match for $500k is beyond me. We haven't won up there because we've been an incredibly ordinary football side. There are other factors, yes, but once we're up and about we'll be winning these games and getting a $500k paycheck. I'm glad PJ is running the club. What a star.

Win more games against quality opposition, grow membership and sponsor $ and PJ's business plan will change course relatively quickly.  He is simply waiting to get more aces up his sleeve before he goes back to Gil's crowd to negotiate better deals for the MFC.  Frankly, at this stage of our evolution I don't care how or where we win, as long as we win more often.

WFor him right now it was important to get the club into good commercial shape and said he was pretty sure which members would prefer (NT vs Etihad) as we sure don't like going to Etihad!

I cannot agree with this from PJ.

Don't know about most of you but if given the choice I'd much rather play home games at Etihad than NT. I can actually go to the games and we're not stuffed for the next 3 weeks.

And MFC fans are soft for not attending games at Etihad. I've heard all the reasons why they don't attend but they don't stack up in my opinion. 8,500 attended the GWS game last year which was a disgrace on our part. It was like a throwback to the dark old days of the VFL 1980's.

We could fill Etihad and still not make anywhere near as much as one game in NT.

That's just the reality of where we're at financially as a club and also why there's so much talk about the Etihad deal.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
