We are still one of the dumbest teams in the league.

They were run off their feet at half time and have absolutely run all over us this quarter.

We can't exploit turnovers

We can't transition

We don't get back

We miss targets

And we can't finish teams

Only preseason but gee, the exact same issues persist.

McDonald has been bloody awful all game. Absolute momentum killer with every touch.

Lin Jong, another to the list of duds who kill us.

How can professional footballers be unable to find a target by foot 20m out?

the dogs 18yo players have been recruited with foot skills. i.e hewks

We can't transition because we miss targets.

we can't exploit turnovers because we don't work hard enough

our skills cost us 5-6 easy goals per game

That was absolutely, god damn terrible.  So [censored] lazy from Harmes.  How many goals have we given them from turnovers?

Much of their score.

Why is Lin Jong a dud?   from what I can hear on the radio he is BOG at the moment, obviously knows he has to perform to get a game this year

Have all our skills sessions been indoors this pre season?!? Wtf?

We have the wind coming home, I expect us to win this still but not in impressive fashion.

It really has.  It's like Beveridge has told them to hang back a bit, wait for us to turn it over and then flood forward when it happens.

Tom McDonald's turnovers are the direct goal difference in this game. And we've seen it before, so it's not hasty judgement, but he simply cannot be left down back. His disposal coming out of the back 50 is a liability. Time for him to shift forward permanently.

When Frawley went to Hawthorn he straight away got a text from Sam Mitchell that said "you need to work on your kicking".

Can Sam Mitchell please send that same message to all Melbourne players.

If we want to take the positives from last week, we have to recognise how ordinary we have been today.

Hopefully VDB hasn't done anything serious, as he is an important player for us.

Tom McDonald...wow...I don't think I've seen a player with a greater discrepancy between his best and worst. On his day, he looks All Australian, on days like today, he is an absolute liability.

You have only just realised this is the Dogs game plan?

Watts, Garland, Oliver and McDonald all have four clangers each.

I can live with Watts and Oliver making mistakes because for the most part they have been good but when you have eight clangers from experienced defenders you will struggle to win most games.

The injury to vandenBerg is the biggest worry. Didn't he miss 4+ weeks with it last year?

McDonald should just aim for the crowd, that's his best chance of hitting a Dees player.

I know it is just NAB cup, but I have been impressed by Matt Jones so far, his working very hard and his skills have improved a lot, just need to tackle low

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
