Ablett Jnr left, probably the most beloved 'favourite son' in the city (not just the footy club) of Geelong...  that is how low we have steeped as a competition, with players just putting their selfish motives first... so I wouldn't rule it out

And his Dad gets a new job. And his family have to move back to SA. And he walks out on his father's club, the club he has supported,  that took him as a father son. And he leaves his mates. And he leaves at a time when we are on the up. And he leaves the G and, and, and.

So much like and only one like button

Some malevolent forces must be [ ... ] scared of a Melbourne uprising and now trying this rubbish.

Do you think the same comments would have been said about Abbott Jnr before he left the Cats?

There appears to be little loyalty left in the AFL these days.

So the only opinion left is for the Dees to win the 2016 flag and finally show them all who is boss.

GO THE DEES! !!!

Ablett moved for money. I have no doubt our offer to Viney would be greater than what Port would offer.

The crux of it is here.

"...The funny thing is, that I have heard from a mate that would know - that Jack Vineys manager has been in close contact with the club about coming across as well!!

Apparently he is looking for the chance to play finals and to be a part of a club that can realistically provide that as Melbourne is not likely to for a very long time.

Watch this space..."

Yeh, the irony is that we will be well above PA on the ladder this year. Next....

My sources are telling me the powers that be are working on a straight swap Viney  for Wines, it is all but a done deal.

Of course my sources have been highly unreliable in the past.

Not only that, he moved up north to be the face of a brand new football club.  His circumstances are vastly different.

It's all moot though.  Viney won't be going anywhere.

The Ablett comparison is absurd.

There'll be no other expansion club in Viney's career.

Let's hope so re new clubs but who knows they may go for 20 at some stage hoping quantity gets more TV dollars.I put nothing past The Gill in his quest to destroy the game.

that's the BS part. 'Family reasons' is another example of this. Nobody is honest about it because it seems tasteless to openly state you are selling out.  It's money, always money, and it trumps everything. Which is why the notion of anybody leaving us is never 'ridiculous'

There was also a rumour once, equally ridiculous, that Damien Barrett was a top journalist.

The rumour posted was that Viney wants to play finals sooner than later.

If that were true he wouldn't have come to us in the first place!

It's just that with Barrett it's effortless. The rest of us have to work at it!

Has anyone else cone across a rumour that has been put out there on social media that apparently started with Damo Barrett suggesting Viney will leave MFC in 2017 to join Port Adelaide.

I know that Damo is a [censored], but this is about the worst of his work.

Please someone put this one to bed.

hutchy's settting up barrett to get his old job back again...? about as much relieability as barrett anywho.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
