Been really impressed with Kennedy so far. And Oliver is in everything. Viney has the choice to end Wagners life in a tackle but chose not to (think undertaker). Dunn has been great as well, Gawn number 1 ruck on the ground

Just going by the clubs twitter, Oliver seems to be having a crack. Good to hear he is living up to his reputation with contested ball winning!
Good to hear Kennedy is lively as well. He could be a good pick up for us.

For those there, is Bugg playing? I thought he injured himself at training the other day.

Again from Striker475 on bigfooty. Best so far

BLUE:
Jetta - has been everywhere
Harmes - linking up well with Hogan up forward
Gawn - huge in the literal sense
Kennedy - getting a fair bit of it

WHITE:
Dunn - kept Hogan quiet
Oliver - doing well from the contest
#6 Casey - keeps popping up
ANB - doing well out wide

#Grimeswingwatch - has torn his jumper. Was moved back to defence in Q2. I call it a resounding moment of dumb that we should never see again.

I'm sure there are no nasty connotations with using the word "top up" in this context or the one in which the four clubs affected by the Essendon 34 sanctions applied for "top ups" to the AFL.

It was the AFL in that case that decided to reward the transgressor club with the extra players and to ignore the others who had no part in the doping regime at Bomberland.

I think it has something to do with what laughingly passes for "integrity" at the AFL these days.

Let's be clear about one thing WJ. Integrity has no part to play in any aspect of AFL operations, activities or decisions. Not in umpiring, not in fixturing, not in assistance or decisions on equity. Certainly not in the operation of the Match Review Panel, not in concessions to the AFLPA which are grievously hurting the weaker clubs.

Integrity is a catchcry,  to the AFL nothing more than a salve to enable them to stand back and appear to be caring and even handed. INTEGRITY UNIT ????

As John Elliot might have said " In a pigs ear "  And all I really want is the FAIREST and best player to win the Brownlow. My interest in that went out the window when Greg Williams and Dipierdomenico won them.

Give me strength  !!!!!!!!!

How's the ball movement? it seems like both sides are quite attacking with the long kicks based off the tweets coming through

and Jesse has kicked a few sausage rolls?

From the MelbFC twitter

" Christian Salem has been good to watch today - reading the play well and kicking beautifully. "

It seems with Salem playing our movement is likely to be much better. He's so important

There's also been a few mentions of Watts and his accurate long kicks

I assume #6 is Casey's James Munro? Not there but I know that's the number he wears..

Looked a likely type last year..

Is anyone else worried that Jones has been missing in action both in the match simulation and now the practice match?

Anyone got any info?

  1. That wraps up today's intraclub. A good, contested hit out.

Sam Weideman takes a strong mark on the lead and pushes the ball inside 50. Billy Stretch finds some space and kicks a goal.

  2.

Jack Viney wins the ball in heavy traffic and finds the space to snap a nice goal.

  3.

Hogan wins a free kick against Dunn. Takes the set shot from a 45 degree angle and slots it.

  4.

Gawny kicks long on the run searching for Hogan who marks close to goal. He runs around the tight angle and kicks another.

  5.

We're into the 4th quarter. Pedersen works hard to make a big spoil on Max Gawn inside 50.

  6.

Christian Salem has been good to watch today - reading the play well and kicking beautifully.

I'm not sure about WJ's use of the expression "top up players". Makes me feel like we've done something wrong.

No way.  When we do something wrong, even if not anything defined as illegal eg tanking, we get severely punished.

It is others, well known, who get rewarded

As another has said in this thread - integrity is an embarrassment to the AFL

I went down, just my quick opinions-

Harmes in everything, tough clean and creative in the midfield
Watts linking up high, a lot of long leads and delivering to the deep Fwds. This role suits his game
Salem superstar, deadset gun across half back, use was top quality
Kennedy looks sharp, fast, and cracks in.didn't get heaps of it, but would be a contributor
OMac is a player, he will get games this year.
Kent Gun, involved in everything. Damaging left, tough and racked up possessions through middle and fwd
Tmac holding the ball 3 times, but was good
Grimes was good, he is best 22
I saw hogan kick 4
Tyson gets a lot of contested ball, didn't use it real well though
If Gawn goes down were buggered, he got a lot of ball and dominated taps but had no competition

What evidence is there that he is MIA in the practice match?  If you are going off MFC tweets, it is far more likely the PR team will focus on new players than telling us what we already know about Jones.  Anyone there have any comment?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
