Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Will the AFL ever stop given Ess 'gifts' to help them up the ladder.  http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-08-24/afl-set-to-soften-rules-around-bombers-topups?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=RSS+feed%3A+AFL+Latest+News

Initially the 10 top up players had to go into the draft and any club could draft them.  If EFC wanted them they had to pay the draft price.  The AFL has now conveniently changed the rules so that the 10 are classified as 'Delisted Free Agents' and can go to the club of their choice, FOR FREE.  ie no draft picks involved.  Theoretically it looks as if it could benefit any club who wants to draft them but of course any decent ones will go to Essendon,

So EFC not only get pick #1 for doping their players, they get most of them back in 2017 and now don't need to use any draft picks to keep any or all of the 10 top-up players that want to stay.

I despair at this latest AFL aid to EFC.

The complicit silence of all other 17 clubs is astonishing.

The AFL has now streaked past  the IOC and FIFA for the gold medal for corrupt sporting administrations.  Rewarding deliberate underhanded cheating - not even the runners up do that.

Given all the players become available to any club who might want them, I don't see how this is an Essendon-specific AFL action. If we wanted any of those players, we're free to talk to them and make them an offer.

Except we are at a disadvantage because they have already spent time at the club and formed relationships. This would give them an advantage they shouldn't be afforded for their cheating.

Surely they can't change a draft rule so close to the draft because it doesn't suit 1 team? Matt Dea would have been of interest to multiple clubs.

they have got to stop rewarding the drug cheats for destroying their name.

The Pie man is on record as saying he wants Essendrug up as quick as possible I heard him on 3AW before the start of this season and nothing he has done since suggests he has changed his position.

I remember him saying after the suspensions were handed down that it was important that the suspensions were held because it was their commitment to clean sport, everything else he's done has been totally disrespectful, he's systematically rigged the system to ensure they lose as little money as possible and shown how important clean sport really is, it's a nice idea so long as it doesn't effect revenue, the integrity of the contest is dead and buried.

Changing of the rules so Essendon can add top-ups to their list seamlessly as DFA but still a firm no to the players involved in the suspensions being granted the same courtesy.

It's hard to believe the AFLPA isn't all over this, it's ludicrous.

The stain on the Brand that will never be reversed. The first organisation to have a Foundation Member stained guilty when the dill was head.

Interesting that several well known Sporting Brands decided to not extend their Sponsorships on some bright spark, just one, from USA for getting plastered and misplacing his money, and here we have a whole team that gets "really plastered" and several well known Sporting Brands haven't got the ticker either this year or next to pull the plug on TWSNBN let alone on the League who are actively supporting them.

Scene: AFL house. Gillon McLaughlin is sitting in an enormous leather chair, cradling a large brandy balloon. At the foot of the chair, crouching on all fours, is Paul Marsh, AFLPA CEO. McLaughlin's feet are on his back.

GM: Ahhhh ... nothing like a brandy to settle the tum after a long lunch, eh Geoff?

PM: I suppose so Mr McLaughlin. I've never actually had a--

GM: And a roaring open fire. Takes the winter chill off.

GM: I'm pleased with you, Rod. I think we get on exceptionally well. You and your player co-op thingy, and me with my international standard sporting competition.

PM: Yes, Mr McL--

GM: I mean, we hardly ever have a disagreement. It's very unusual in the business world to be as harmonious as we are.

PM: Yes Mr McLaughlin.

GM: It pleases me.

PM: Thank you Mr McLaughlin.

GM: Those player agents though. I'm hearing that some players aren't happy with the way we're handling the Essendon situation.

PM: That's right Mr McLaughlin!

GM: We're not going to hear any more from them, are we Shaun?

PM: Well actually Mr McLaughlin, the other players are--

GM: I said, we're not going to hear any more from them, are we?

PM: (pause) No Mr McLaughlin.

GM: The alpacas need a wash this weekend. See to it. And while I'm at the Hawthorn game, get the Bentley waxed.

PM: Yes Mr McLaughlin.

GM: Not many people have it as good as we do, eh Graham? Put another log on the fire.

PM: Yes Mr McLaughlin.

I'm not sure if your question is rhetorical, but Dank fits into that category of "celebrity" which our media seem to love. Others in that list include Geoffrey Edelsten and his various ex-wives and partners, Warwick Capper and Mark Jackson. (While Capper and Jackson played football, the media love them today for anything but their former football lives.) Unfortunately, the media love for these (non)-celebrities says more about us, the consumer of the media, than it does about the media themselves.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
