Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Final Role call for Norm Smith Ultimate Footy Comp 2016??

We currently have 11 Teams confirmed for 2016 who have joined the comp.

Draft day is Sunday 20th March @ 7.00pm

We need even numbers so effectively only need 1 more side or 3 more sides to cap the comp @ 14. Demonlander's any interest to claim the final spot/ spots before we open up externally?

thanks Gary I just re sent the link for John as well. I'm home now from work so will be able to be a lot more active leading up to the draft. I'm quite happy to run with the 12 teams, with the extra players available, perhaps an extended squad. Can't have to many good players sitting in the waiver list!

ok everyone this is the team line up at the moment, it was what he had last year and worked well. As I stated earlier, with less teams (from 16 or 18 teams last year?) and dropping again from 14 to 12 there are going to be a lot more players available. this has advantages to cover injuries and poor form also bye weeks. but it has disadvantages because its easier to cover injuries poor form and bye weeks. so my question is do we want to make the team line ups bigger?

Also emergencies only cover that position, forwards cover forwards centres cover centres. There is an option for an emergency player to come in if someone is injured if they spend 5% or 10% and so on  time on ground, I think we will go with players aren't replaced if the game has already started. if you cop and injury at the start of a game then thats football. But I'm open if the majority want it the other way.

So far Gary(OMR) is the only one to suggest a scoring option I'll post his up and another one and we'll go with majority again, or if you have a better idea throw it up. would love to get this set asap so we can choose our draft order to suit the scoring.

here's what it was automatically set at, i just changed Hit Outs to 3 so it gives an uneven total of 25.

Oh yeah this year, if you leave a spot blank when setting up your weekly line up, your emergency will not cover the empty space, which a few coaches took advantage of last year.

This is the same way it worked last year (I recall robbo getting screwed by doing this when he tried it when playing me :) )

The thing that people (including myself) took advantage of was to put a player in the Friday game in as an emergency and put a player who isn't named (from a non Friday night team) on the field.  If the emergency did well then you leave it, or if the emergency was bad then you move the non-playing player who is on the team onto the bench and replace with another playing player.

I'd say a spoil has a much bigger impact than a hitout.  That said, I'm not too fussed - as long as we know what the points are worth before the draft then we can build teams to those categories :)

By the way, haven't had the chance to get on here too much lately to say good work on all you've done!

ok. do we have a gentlemens agreement that we dont do this or change final teams to friday night. Or is it just not bigger deal if everyone knows they can do this and as lance armstrong once implied, its fair because everyone's doing it. Some people may find it tough to get there line ups finalized by friday night.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
