Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

You are trained as an athlete not to trust your doctor and to check that what they say you are getting is not banned. This is drummed into athletes, why the AFL feel they are different and their poor little boys need protection is beyond me. Time for the whole league to grow up and join the 20th century, let alone the 21st!

Except apparently at Essendon they were trained to lie to ASADA when repeatedly asked re supplements

Off shore - maybe St James spent some of his paid exile in some Swiss bank vaults?

Pit really pisses me off when Danks says it is all so unfair but will not produce the clearing evidence.

And as many have reiterated, clubs keep records of absolutely everything ....... except details of what they, in their delusional state, may have considered ground breaking sports medical breakthroughs.

Hird's response, "It was Wally's (Dean Wallis) job to keep the records. He kept the records on the back of his TAB tickets, so the TAB should have the records if Wally had a win. Wally had and still does have a close relationship with Danksy, so he was the most qualified to keep medical records. Nothing to do with me, I'm innocent."

Tracey, please just ask this simple question: "Why did the players exclude the multitude of off-site injections from their ASADA drug disclosure forms?"

But she won't, because she's nothing more than a biased Hird sympathiser.

He isn't going to put himself up for a hard interview. If it is a pure love-in, we can question why our taxes are paying for it (I say this as a supporter of the ABC).

I'm still totally bewildered about what the AFL Tribunal made of the fact that the players did not reveal the totally legal injections they 'thought' they were getting to ASADA's regular monitoring process.  Has anyone in the media addressed this critical point which I think makes it clear the players knew they were up to no good.

One of the players said to CAS we didn't want to reveal info that would be of use to our competitors. While that has a veneer of  plausibility, it beggars belief.

Sue, that does not hold weight as the players say they do not know what they were taking. It reinforces my belief that they are lying.

A question for anyone with knowledge of how CAS appeals work, if Methendon go that way.

I know in Criminal matters, if you appeal a decision from the Magistrates' Court to the County Court, you run the risk of receiving a higher sentence (as rare as that happens).

Does anyone know if this is the same with CAS to the Swiss Federal Court?  If Methendon appeal and loose, could they end up with a longer sentence?

I have heard so many people draw the analogy that when you go to your doctor and he says take these - you usually don't question - you expect everything to be on the up and up and you trust .

I agree however.....

As soon as I get outside and someone asks me 30 times if my doctor  gave  me something I don't reply " nothing........he gave me nothing"

Hird went to Dr CAS and got a giant suppository.

Why would Essendon appeal? They have not received any penalty. At this stage they are not guilty of anything! (WorkCare and shoddy bookkeeping aside)

What if a player appeals? My understanding is that the suspension stays in place during the appeal, that any appeal is held under Swiss law, probably in Switzerland and only points of law can be appealed. It could take 6-12 months before an appeal held. Good luck with that.

Not even Robbo could touch this dribble. I did like how he said CAS found he wanted everything to be compliant and signed off by Reid, yet forgot the texts where he is complaining about Reid blocking things!

As I understand it, it's not even points of law. They can only appeal failures in the process. Eg if they weren't given an opportunity to adequately defend themselves. Or if evidence was admitted that shouldn't have been etc. But as I understand it all parties including the players reps have said they were satisfied they had been given a fair hearing. So can't see there will be any basis for an appeal on the procedure.

Ok, now I'm really confused. Got this from an article on the age:

Hunter did not receive an infraction notice — likely because he did not sign a consent form for the relevant substance — and thus avoided the year-long suspensions, but he is no longer playing football. 34 current and ex-Essendon players received season bans for doping offences on Tuesday.

Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/essendon-saga-parents-appalled-as-afl-dons-pursue-costs-against-hal-hunter-20160115-gm6l85.html#ixzz3xHXHhsJb

So Hunter got jabbed, but didn't sign the consent form. So that gives him, what, plausible deniability regarding TB4? So ASADA didn't bother pursuing him in the first place?

And the rest get nabbed because they DID sign the form, showing they knew they were getting "Thymosin" or whatever was written on there.

Also how does that work around the club? Why would a guy, who presumably knows a bunch of other players signed a consent form, keep getting jabbed without having signed one? Similarly, did the players who DID sign the form, not think it strange that a guy who DIDN'T sign the form was still getting injections?

My head hurts.

They were getting injections before Reid got wind of it so they signed consent forms and hid it all again.

BTW that is a [censored] disgrace from the afl and essendon, asking for costs after Hunter asked for docs relating to what he'd been injected with. What a bunch of [censored].

Thanks for posting this, Biggestred. I didn't realize they were doing that. As you say, what a disgrace. He has to sue them to find out what chemicals they've injected into his body. Good on him. That's one of the puzzles for me - why is nobody taking legal action to make that smirking lump of blubber Dank tell them what he pumped into them. Even Essendon aren't - you'd think they'd want to know. Only assumption I can make is that they do know - but their "scientist" was so stupid, he didn't realize it was illegal, so when McKenzie or Baker (sorry forget which half of the Dynamic Duo) pointed it out, they destroyed all records.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
