Dee-Christmas thread

For those last minute shoppers such as myself who haven't quite finished getting what I need and have left it until the last 2 days before Christmas, I'm on the lookout for some cool presents. Still need to get a few things (for adult and kids)

With still a couple of days to Christmas, anyone have any cool ideas for late Christmas gifts? ie. remote car/drone/choppers, DS games, Xbox games, other techno ideas.

I've seen the MFC bar mat with Jones and Hogan on it - not a bad idea (See below). Other MFC product ideas?

I've been looking for the Straight Dope book - haven't been able to come across it yet. Might have to get something else, any other decent reads from latest books out?

I'm asking D'Land, because we usually find quality answers here?

Cheers, and Merry Xmas!

Being of the Jewish persuasion, I can do a quickie conversion for you, so you don't have to buy any presents. The conversion is guaranteed to wear off just before Easter so you are not excluding from taking those holidays.

nutbean I thought you would have contributed something like the latest form of technology for waffles. My wife loves waffles. In fact, she is not immune to waffling on. Isn't there a device of such so she can playback and hear herself waffle?

Incidentally, this 6 piece logo evolution pin set needs updating: -

I cannot quite remember who ( I believe it may have been prodee in a former life) accused me of waffling so I thought my avatar should be appropriate.

( Also, I couldn't find a pic for vacillating, obstruficating or pontificating)

I'm pretty sure they brought something out in the 90s called a 'yak-bak.' Maybe your wife would be interested?

I've bought my little sister a Sodastream drink maker.

Weve had one for years and I reckon they're the ducks nuts.

I was considering buying one but i'm not sold on the environmental or financial cost benefit analysis. Thoughts?

What environmental effects are concerned about? The reusable bottles last for years so there's a clear benefit just in that.

We use Cottee's no added sugar cordial or squeeze in fresh lemon or lime juice to taste.

Co2 refills cost $20 so when it's all said and done you're looking at 40 cents per litre of made drink maximum.

Thanks,.

The environmental issue is once you have factored in the materials and energy used to build and transport the machine and C02 bottles (not inconsiderable) how does that compare to the  materials and energy used if you are buying bottles of carbonated water as i currently do. It obviously depends on how much you but but our household goes though a fair few

If your in the city and are looking for something a little left of centre, try Wunderkarma on Lonsdale street. I've previously bought a dome that projects a holograph of whatever you put inside it, fossilised trilobites and other fancy stuff. Perhaps, you could buy some coprolite and pass it off as being from the Barassi period. An ancient memory of the time when demons strode tall on the plains of Jolimont.

I love my golf and will enjoy reading Steve Williams' autobiography "Out of the rough".

He's caddied for Norman, Woods, Scott and I believe in his early days PeterThompson.  Maybe even Ray Floyd.

No good if you don't love golf though.

Yep - just a big glass over an old grinder really....

But, many swear by them as more and more people go for energy concoctions.

Lazy mans blender. Just add the same amounts to your blender and hey presto the same result. If your feeling really paleo, you could grab a tea strainer (or, fine straw) and a tea spoon and press your fruit and seeds through that. At least your building core strength while you make the drink.

I think trying to calculate an answer to your question would take more energy than both processes combined.

It's cheaper and easier.

The body usually starts the digestion of its food in the chewing process; the nutri bullet and its ilk takes that process so i am told.

I'm no lover of golf but I reckon this guy is probably not on good terms with Tigers' Ex.

Helped him play into the rough a bit also by my estimation.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits. Thankfully, the offseason has recharged me, and I’m back—ready t
