This is why the club heads to QLD when they do, to get out of Melbourne due to the tennis.

I have emailed the club about the Maroochydore Camp. I realise I won't get a response until the new year but if anyone knows any dates it would be appreciated. If they have been publicised somewhere I can't find them. Last year's open training event was awesome and the only chance we have to connect we the club live and keep the kids interest burning, although the game on the Gold Coast this year will be a welcome addition too. If anyone has any info it would be appreciated so we can save the date. Have an 11 yr old who is dying to get Nat Jones to sign her breast cancer Guernsey with the no 2 on it she got for Xmas.

Fortunately I'm driving down this time, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Bugger, you're right.
Might push the prospect of attending beyond my grasp.

They usually have the first few sessions at Gosch's apart from the time trial at Princess Park (this could be on any of the first few sessions so check with the club) then move on for a couple of weeks when the tennis kicks up. Last January ran this way and the following week shifted up to the Sunshine Coast.

The MFC twitter page just uploaded a photo of Brayshaw and Salem in the gym today. If my eyes aren't deceiving me, then Salem looks like he's about to bench 110kg which is pretty strong for a kid his size and age!

So what happens when a 'closed' session is held at Gosch's and supporters turn up for that? Are you chased away?

Well how do we know to turn up if they don't advertise it??

I meant if people stop and watch as passers-by.

Nothing, in my experience. AFAIK the open vs closed is mainly for the media, who can only film at open sessions.

And an understanding between clubs that they don't scout closed sessions.

I've never been chased away from a closed session at Gosch's but I don't usually stay long during them or take notes etc. It's a public park though so I doubt they'd have any authority to do anything if you were observing.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
