Sorry BB.

Ave Salary must be 221.95k which nobody gets.

So median is what most guy get right?

But they all get different amounts.

Median is probably closest to what many would think they mean ( npi ...well ...maybe  ..lo ) by average...  Similar I suppose to 'typical"

I nominate for POTY.

It's a Demonland tradition that players who leave the club (Frawley, Howe) or doesn't join the club like Prestia, suddenly diminish in ability. Conversely, players that join the club like Melksham are far better than their record suggests.

Prestia is only 23, and a sound investment by Richmond.

You know...I have the sneaking suspicion that if Dion's playing prognosis was more than positive that we'd have grabbed him. That we aren't...makes me wonder.  But then  ..we all know Richmond have better doctors !! ^_^

Yes- median salary must be something like $9.1 million divided by 41.

$9.1 mill is the annual cap.

41 is the amount of players on list.

The outliers are guys like Buddy and Tippet who ruin the whole team ethos.

The cap is $10.6 million.

If Sally leaves Flinders St station at 2pm and the train travels at an average speed of 20km/h for 25 minutes, how many bananas will Jack Grimes eat in 2017?

Well the average (350k) is over all the players right? So, if you have players on 700k then it means all the other players aren't on 350k because the 700k bumps up the average. Get it?

I'll give you a microcosm... Let's say it's over just 2 players. If one player is on 700k, then the other player is on 0, because the average is 350k.

How many players in your opinion average the average wage of 350k ?

Exactly. Hopefully now BA can understand and you also understand the difference between average and minimum.

I'm not the one confused.

No apologies warranted. Where would Demonland be if not for its meanderings ?

http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/what-do-afl-players-earn-four-footballers-earn-more-than-1000000-in-2015/news-story/d4b406a2147b77d25d93a61e443d7cff

Anyone know their statistics?

Only one senior-listed player took home less than $60,000

188 earnt between $100,001 and $200,000 (the most number of players earning between any specific hundred thousand dollar bracket)

95 players earned more than $500,000

The average was around $300,000

Based on that info:

There are ~790 senor listed AFL players and only 95 (5 per club) earn more than $500,000. 10 per club earn $100,000- $200,000.

And average overall is around $300k. I suspect median is closer to $250k.

You'd have to think 275-280 as being near typical

Well if you take the 5 above 500k as an average of 600k ($3 million) and the 10 between $100k- $200k as an average of $150k ($1.5 million) you have 15 players getting $4.5 m and the remaining 29 players getting $6 m, or an average of ~$200k each.

I'm reading that as about 9 players between $60-100k, 10 players between $100k-200k, 20 between $200-500k (averaging $265k) and 5 above $500k.

The median would then be somewhere between $200k-$265k.

Effectively, your top 5 players get above $500k.

Your next 10 get $265-500k

And the next 16-25 get $200-265k.

It's ok to joke about it according to Stu because I'm white and male.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
