Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

    Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

    Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

    We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

    However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

    The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

    Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

    We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

    WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

    Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

'stuie', you're one for the facts so how about you tell us the full story here. There are more than a couple of men and kids that have been killed by females this year. I saw a post this morning and the figures were quite surprising, I don't know if they are real so I won't post.

What I do know is that violence is a big issue and getting bigger, I also know it's not gender specific despite what the media and politician bandwagoners would have us believe.

Yeah I hear you, and let me be clear, in no way am I saying that doesn't happen or isn't a problem also. Just saying that the weight of numbers is hugely one sided, so let's deal with the biggest problem first. Labeling those doing what they can to combat violence against women as "bandwagoners" is a bit average though I would think.

But for the sake of factual information, here is some from a reputable source rather than a "post" somewhere...

"The police data reaffirms that women are overwhelmingly the victims of family and domestic violence. When it comes to assaults in family and domestic violence, the ABS reports there are:

  • Four times as many female victims (4,534) as male victims (1,157) in South Australia;
  • Four times as many female victims (3,482) as male victims (807) in the Northern Territory;
  • Three times as many female victims (10,648) as male victims (3,860) in Western Australia;
  • Three times as many female victims (465) as male victims (145) in Australian Capital Territory; and
  • Twice as many female victims (19,488) as male victims (9,261) in New South Wales.

That the ratio of female to male victims is only two to one in NSW might be surprising at first glance. But of those 9,261 male victims of assault, only 3,305 incidents involved a partner or an ex."

'stuie', I think some politicians have good intentions and others really are more interested in getting re elected. This has become a popular cause in recent times and many are jumping on the bandwagon.

The biggest problem is violence full stop, it's not about one side or the other.

The weight of numbers for deaths (what you were quoting originally) is actually not so hugely one sided and many male victims of violence don't report it.

A friend of mine knows the owners of the bar, which is actually a japanese restaurant/bar thing.

The female involved did far more to provoke the situation then the media reported, much more.

Had a very "hot", running mouth and works in the media and sprouted so, whilst insulting Dusty for the form he was in as soon as he entered the building basically, which led to what he did. Still, all that aside, his "chopstick reaction" was not warranted and deserves to be punished.

Have it on very good authority that he is part owner of the bar/restaurant which might contribute to this biased comment.  No matter how 'hot' her running mouth was ......his behaviour on all levels was totally unacceptable regardless of gender.  Also being in the media I seriously doubt she would deliberately inflame the situation......she could have just merely videoed it on her phone & sent it round media outlets if she wanted to cause trouble.

Sooooo many male murder victims don't report their murders? And if you're talking about violence rather than murder, do you really think women report every single incident? You seemingly have no comprehension of this topic at all.

And seriously, to dismiss this as a trend or a re-election strategy is absolute naive rubbish. More than one woman is killed every week due to family violence. How do you not think this is a genuine issue? Get your head out of the 60s.

'stuie'...you well know I was not talking about the reporting of murders.

Of course violence is a genuine issue, I'm not saying it isn't. What I am saying is that the whole issue needs to be addressed, not part of it...

It seems you like many do not want to have a discussion that needs to be had on violence in society and instead want to resort to bullying and name calling.

Wanting a genuine discussion has nothing to do with head in or out of the 60's

Now 'SWYL', I think I might join you and bow out of this discussion....

So you're still dismissing violence against women as an issue in it's own right?

63 women (and counting) have died in Australia due to family violence this year. 63. How many more have to die before you decide it's a problem?

That is a very good point.  Caro's says in this article: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/victims-account-will-shape-richmond-tigers-star-dustin-martins-punishment-20151208-glipay.html the woman did not want to go public because of Martin's 'connections' and she 'feared for her safety'.

The whole situation is more complicated than we think.

Stuie, lately you have seriously lost the plot mate.

I'm imagining you as a little fluffy dog gnawing on a bone growling at the world as you imagine all these things that were not said or that pretty much only you have taken out of context.

That doesn't matter anymore because he has a moderator that protects him from being "bullied".

So whatever self-righteous,PC,indignant issue he sees fit to master, let him.

I expect this comment to be deleted soon but the site is a joke when this plonker gets a run and people with some ability to give and take a joke get banned or deleted.

Stuie is a pain in the 4rse most of the time. This time I think he is right. Violence against women is a major issue and Dustin Martin must be educated and penalised. All violence is bad but don't try to diminish the violence against women problem by saying there is violence against men too.

Stuie chooses to argue and is often selective but he is not always wrong.

Thanks brother. This is what baffles me. I actually am on Stuie's side and agree with what he said. Dustin needs to be punished. All i was trying to do was pass on some inside knowledge, perhaps i poorly worded it, but none of it was my own opinion, just an account of what the owners said happened.

Can we all go back to arguing about our insipid football side now?

Haha really? You base your credibility on Demonland approval points? You've already been shot down about your apparent credible source by another poster and you're still posting in a thread you said you were done with 2-3 times... But you hang on to those internet forum approval points buddy, good for you

You know what Song, let's move on. I generally have no problems with you and find you a reasonable bloke. This is just an issue that's very close to my heart for personal reasons so I probably took your poorly chosen words worse than most. The last thing either of us would want is to turn the attention towards us rather than this important topic.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

    They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

    The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
