Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Dropped in for 20minutes on my way home. Any other posters there to flesh out the session?

I walked in on the end of an end to end drill that culminated in 'Pederson' out marking Hogan. He looked displeased, the drill finished and he joking jogged over and tagged Track, implying that he wanted him on his team next run. Drill over running on.

Newbies looking a little lost, having shoots at goal. Weiderman looks like he'll be a second year prospect. Not enough size to him to compete with the monsters. I think it was Hulett who was with him and King (newbie). Hulett seem ready physically, mentally and was slotting them soundly. He won't win second prize in a beauty contest but, looks to be a pretty good contested mark.

Milky seems to be fitting I well, nice kick and vision. Didn't see enough of Kennedy, but, looks the part. Everything Track touches the ball, I notice a lot of glances over the shoulder by team mates. Was in the non contact vest, but, the boys were constantly calling him out and sliding one his way for a shot on goal. Love seeing Gawn and Kent develop such s good bond.  Look forward to seeing that blossom this season. Had to run to a school performance that just finished! Torture.

Hope someone else has a little more insight.

Agree Bizkit.

What the hell does that mean? Are they looking over their shoulders because they know he will take their place & are scared or is it because he sprays the ball every time he kicks it?

Im guessing but given every player and his dog named Petracca as the player to watch next year and also the Club only rates him behind Hogan for talent I'd say that they are looking over their shoulders just to watch what he does next. Players can be fans too.

I think they are trying to ascertain if his eyebrows are real and if so how on earth they are so sculpted. They should call him Wax

That was my take too. Replace "Everything" with "Every time".....autocorrect perhaps..

Thanks DemiDee.

Apologies for delay in getting to this, but I did pop into training for about half an hour before work and like others, was absolutely rapt with the quality, variety and intensity of their work at this stage.

They did seem to be doing more clearance/tackling work than last year and there was also groups practising the old set play of a handball give and release to a player who then kicked long to a target. Petracca, Hoges and King were the recipients of the passes - ie: they are being set to play as forwards. Salem was clearly the most lethal of the guys releasing it to them.

The newcomers are still being carefully managed so spent most of their time cycling.

Brayshaw is doing one-direction fitness running work, so I suspect he has had a bit of the old OP - which could also explain why he faded out a bit last year after the Geelong game. Jonesy is now getting close to full work - he's even doing some marking on a lead work. Dom Tyson was also being managed a bit as was Jake Spencer.

Obviously it depends on where you end up standing, but I had a really close look at the tackling/clearance work group and the highlight was when Viney was tackled by a short guy and was unable to break free - that's no mean feet to achieve given Jack's strength for his size. When they got up off the ground I was gobsmacked who it was - little Billy Stretch is now little, really strong Billy Stretch. He has bulked up in a big way and a little later he broke clear of a chasing group and snagged a left foot goal on the run.

Overall our standard is just way, way better than three years ago and almost every player looked dangerous at times. We will be heaps more competitive this year.

Thanks for the report. This part was good to read. I noticed on recent photos posted by Six6Six, that Billy did indeed look well finely tuned (bulked up a little) and wondered about his strength. Tackling and holding onto the pit bull, is encouraging at least.

Heard that Hogan had his knee heavily strapped... Is that correct?

He had light taping on his right knee when I got there. Kicked a low and hard punt kick and grabbed his knee, physio came over to pinpoint where the pain was and re-strapped the knee with a lot more tape in a criss-cross fashion. He tried to run it off on the sidelines for about 5 minutes and then joined in the match simulation training afterwards. Maybe he has a mild medial ligament strain they are trying to manage? I'm sure they wouldn't have allowed him to continue to train if there was a possibility of injuring it further.

That sentence about Petracca made no sense.

Sorry, tired after finishing an award ceremony that finished at 11. Didn't edit, blurted and posted. Obvious auto correct after re read. A bit like, a day without sunshine is...um... night. Or, realising how wet water really is. Thank you Steve Martin and L.Frank Baum.

Seemed pretty strong in the sprints. Noticed Oliver tweak his Achilles, not badly, and made his way over to the medics. I'm sure it was nothing major though.

Fortunately Demi Dee, with Clayton I think it was just the burst blister on his heel rather than any possible achilles  issue that was bothering him - I was only a few metres away from him when he was having it looked at and managed to get a quick peak at his foot- didn't look like it will be much of a problem for him!!

I have to say I was really impressed by the whole  training session in general, just the setup, professionalism of both players and coaches and the execution of the drills was of such a higher standard than it was last time I attended training back in 2013 - (I've spent the past 2 and a bit years in WA recovering from my own leg and back injuries!!) Looks like I've picked the right time to move back home to Victoria!!!

Btw, is it just me or has Billy Stretch gotten a bit taller as well as bulked up a bit since being drafted? Watching him train yesterday I was constantly thinking that he couldn't possibly be less than 180 cm - does anybody know what his actual height is?!

As somebody else commented earlier, Billy's tackle on Viney was very impressive- just one of many young Dees whom I can't wait to see what kind of players they become after 4 or 5 pre- seasons and 50 or more senior matches, Petracca's  obviously another one who impressed me yesterday - he already looks like he's had several very solid pre - seasons under his belt rather than the limited amount of training he's had since joining the club. Was great to see him stick around after pretty much everyone else had left so that he could practice some snap shots for goal!!

For the first time in years it's clear to see that the club heading in the right direction, both on the field and off -and it's so great to see! I cannot wait for it all to click at once - to be tough and entertaining, feared and successful - Go Demons!!!!

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
