Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We had a lot of list turnover in recent years but all indications are it's likely to continue. 2016 is a big year for ..

Jack Watts: OOC Free Agent, likely to be UFA?

Chris Dawes: Last year of an expensive contract?

Heritier Lumumba: Didn't deliver value, contract may provide protection

Jack Trengove: It will be some sort of miracle if he gets back

Ben Newton: There's a lot of competition for spots now

Cam Pedersen: A one year contract

Viv Michie: See Ben Newton

Jay Kennedy-Harris: See Ben Newton

Jayden Hunt: This year it's time to show something

Jack Grimes: See Jack watts

Jake Spencer: Back up ruckman is a precarious role

James Harmes: See Cam Pedersen

Matt Jones: See Ben Newton

Dean Terlich: Only saved this year by his contract

Max King: Must continue to improve

That's 15 players realistically in the gun.

Jones and Terlich are goners.  Thats clear.  Must be hard for terlich.  Roos is the 'saviour' of the club to everyone at the club except terlich.  I think Roos shut his career down in Sydney as well.

It's not Roos' fault that Terlich can't execute basic fundamentals of the game. He is definitely a trier, but he would never get a game in a successful side.

I watched a replay of our 12 goal last quarter against GWS the other day. I admire the way he put his head over the ball time and time again, but the number of times he fumbled, lost possession, dropped simple marks and shanked kicks was unbelievable.

Looks like 8/15 have been kept on the list, most notably Watts and Hunt having somewhat break out seasons but definitely locking down 1st team positions. Harmes earning his spot most weeks and then Pederson and Trengove doing enough to recieve 1 year contracts. Spencer gets a 1 year contract purely as depth. Lumumba and JKH barely troubled the scorers due to their injury riddled years, but still have a year left on contracts.

Interesting thread to read none the less

I was going to say JKH, to see if he can consolidate a spot in our best 22. But I've changed my mind, and think 2016 is going to be a big year for...

Max Gawn.

Many would consider 2015 a break out year for Maxy, but I'm not sold yet. He showed he has the ability to play at the top level at various stages, but now I want to see him do it for 22+ games in a season. I want to be assured that he has the desire to not be out of place if mentioned in the same breath as Goldstein. I want him to prove that he has both feet heavily planted on the ground, and is willing to make any personal sacrifice to give himself the best opportunity to be one of the best rucks in the league.

2016 will show me if Max is content with being the number 1 ruck at Melbourne, or if he has the drive to be the best in the league.

It's over to you, Max.

I take full responsibility for Max's season, so my response is, "you're welcome".

Anyone want me to target any other players on the list to get them to the next level?

Im most optimistic this season about Jayden Hunt, he provides something that our side lacked last year. Whilst Kent and Frost both add this speed to the side, with a good run with injuries Hunt could show why their is faith in him and why Roos has high faith in him.

7 of 15 players delisted plus Lynden Dunn traded.

Three players consolidated their positions soundly with good years: Watts, Hunt and Harmes.

2017 remains a big year for Lumumba, Trengove, Pedersen, Kennedy-Harris and Spencer

I think Garland can be added to that list although he has 2 years of contract to run.

It's definitely a shorter list now - particularly considering that Pedersen and.Spencer were retained as specific role depth.

I think Pedersen will continue to get contracts until we have another option. He is good as depth for the forwards and can play back. Until we have the Weid and maybe Hulett fully up and running and another youngster coming through I can see Pedo staying on the list on 1 year deals.

Nathan jones to have a big 2016 and take out the best and fairest.

Starting off with a perfect preseason, he is now in the prime of his life.

With other midfeilders performing and the addition of new and experiences players. Nathon Jones dominates the stopagges and regually kicks goals.

His game is now at another level.

I can see in to the past - Jack Viney gets it.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
