Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Agree with Nutbean.

With Saty's reports, you do what you do with any report: take from them what's useful to you, ignore the rest.

I just don't see the point of castigating someone for not doing what each of us would do, and as someone who can't ever get to training, I appreciate reports from anyone, no matter the shape or form.

IMO Saty's training reports were/are the best thing about Demonland. I look forward to his reports, and I hope he sticks around. In my short time on the site, I am yet to see a member contribute more to the site - Moderators not included.

You must be blind.

Every thread Satyricon posted in became about him. It was annoying as [censored].

I only care about the training reports. More often than not, Saty was the only person to report on training. I can't speak for anyone else, but I live in country Vic, so I am/was very appreciative of Saty's reports. I think it is a real shame that some posters want to pick apart trivial aspects of Saty's reports. He likes to big note, big deal, get over it. Now Saty probably won't report, and Demonland will be worse off - due to a minority of flogs that cannot handle Saty dropping a few names.

Demonland will be worse? Some people liked Saty reports some didn't.. But spare me!

i can name 5 demonland posters who are better at reporting an actual training report rather then just personl appearance and all that other rubbish that Saty goes into detail about that i personally can't stand, his twitter interaction with the players personal lives is beyond the joke and quite pathertic.. thinks he's one of the boys.

I open up training reports looking Forward to reading about certain players, game plan structures, stoppage work etc..

Each to their own

If it was a prerequisite to post here that you weren't allowed to be a bit of a fl0g occasionally there'd be nothing to read.

Who cares about Saty's personality? Who cares that everything he posted wasn't to your liking? How many posters could we all say that about?!

But he went to training more than any of us, and he took the time to post about it. Doesn't matter if you liked it or not.

It's those kind of efforts, and posters like KC, WJ, Andy etc that make this place slightly more than just frustrated footy fans cracking the sads at each other.

If you're going to point the gun, have a look at the top 3 members for amount of posts one day...

Does that make me one of the flogs?

Its not just dropping of names King, its the fact that all of his credibility as a traning reporter is lost, when he talks up the Bails' Jones' etc skill levels, and then blasts anyone who dares to call him out on it.

I actually thought he sounded like a stalker, but each to their own.

In the end, the only thing I could be confident about from his training posts, was the names of who was training, and who wasnt.

Ugh... That old ploy hey? My post clearly makes sense. Stating something like it's a fact doesn't make it one.

Its my fault Stu, and I apologise.

don't get the Stuie hate on this. He nailed the point about Saty and the rest. People cracking it with him perhaps have guilty consciences.

Nothing to get over, he's gone. How's the serenity?

I'm pretty much in country Victoria too, and I appreciate good training reports, I rarely got anything out of Satyricon's reports, and sadly I stopped even appreciating the effort due to his style and thread derailing.

It's a two way street, KDA. I never bothered picking apart his reports and very rarely engaged with him at all. That being said, it drove me absolutely nuts when ANYONE else would post a report and Saty would pick it apart, contradict FACTS and just try and make it seem like he knew more than anyone else.

One example comes to mind, where a poster did a training report and mentioned that Dawes did a bit of training with the rucks. Saty said that Dawes definitely did not train with the rucks, even though this poster said that they were training directly in front of him. This poster reiterated that he was absolutely certain of what he saw, and that caused Saty to become very rude and condescending.

Next match, lo and behold, Dawes had several stints in the ruck.

We've probably all participated in a spot of rude and condescend at some point.

Not sure that m/any of us are in a position to cast the first stone.

In all seriousness, though, the point I was trying to make was that he didn't respect other Demonlanders' reports, yet people on her complain when people are disrespectful towards him. There's a reason that he gets as much crap as he does.

This might go against what I posted a little earlier (I actually think Saty means well in some cases and it's good to see him back on his feet) but I think there has been some SIGNIFICANT rewriting of history here.

Saty first gained notoriety during the three weeks of darkness that started the 2013 season. In addition to doing his training reports, it seemed his mission was to look at every thread available and castigate anyone who he deemed to be 'excessively negative'. In reality, he was merely looking for anything or anyone who could be considered even vaguely critical of the club's direction or anyone associated with that direction.

A good example of this was when he came out and abused posters who felt that Rohan Welsh coming out in public and potting Casey players was counterproductive. It was highly amusing in that Saty couldn't understand the irony of the position that he was taking.

I remember those days of 2013 and to their eternal credit, the moderators were incredibly accommodating and were quite lenient regarding poster venting. Sadly, Saty couldn't understand that, believe it or not, a lot of the negativity was justified. He didn't help things by addressing fellow posters in the most antagonistic and condescending manner possible (his favorites were usually 'orc', 'keyboard warrior' or as stated before 'hair shirt wearing lemon sucker'). Another poster once PM'ed me with the suggestion that someone at the club was paying him to pump their tyres up and dismiss their critics. While I thought this was a touch conspiratorial, the vitriolic passion with which he came out to defend the indefensible did leave me with the impression that this was a distinct possibility!:cool:;)

Team this up with his constant blue sky posting and denial of reality ('I'm down at the club all the time and there's nothing wrong that I can see'), shameless self promotion and some of his creepier and more sycophantic training reports and it's easy to see why he DID get up people's noses.

Yes, in many cases people did actively ridicule and take the pizz out of him (I was among their numbers). What most of the revisionists here will find or choose to forget is that most of those who basically rounded on him were people who were insulted by him for merely having an opinion. If he was responding to something that had been said directly to him without provocation then it would be more understandable if he answered in kind but probably 6 times out of 10, it was a case of him attacking someone who had said nothing provocative to him at all but had an opinion that he didn't agree with.

Point in case: Last year, I was unable to watch the Melbourne vs. Hawthorn game as I had been out socializing with friends and colleagues at a pub in Williamstown and the establishment we were at didn't have Foxtel. I posted in the post match discussion that I hadn't watched the match but it sounded like a typical effort for the year: we could keep up with our stronger opposition for a while until gravity caught up with us and were overwhelmed. A few posts later, Saty ripped into me telling me that I wasn't a 'real supporter' (despite my membership saying otherwise) and that he always knew my opinion was worthless. At this point, I let rip at him and he resorted to one of his favorite lines of defense by telling me that I was engaging in 'personal attacks' (again not seeing the irony in some of the statements he made) and that I wasn't being constructive.

This, my friends, was pretty reflective of the usual sequence of events that lead to Saty being abused on this forum

As I said earlier, I think his employment situation didn't help his state of mind when he posted here and it's good to see he has something more to fill his free time these days. However, this revisionism about his time here does grate on me and I felt I needed to correct the record.

Edit: I'm a little sensitive about my English language ability these days as I have to talk Japanese 90% of the time. Hence the numerous edits...

Time to move on. I am more interested in current and future postings about football.

Most of the time posts reflect a variety of opinions that are worth reading. The Essendon drug saga was a case in point. Sure it dragged on to saturation point, but there were many well informed and intelligent views expressed on this the matter.

However, material life is temporary and posters life on this site is temporary. People come and people go. However, I suspect that many lose patience and depart this site due to the ridicule and at times trivial criticisms of others. It's just a waste of time.

I have never met Saty nor do I wish too. Assuming he has left this site for greener pastures its time to forget him. He seems to me just an ordinary guy who had his faults but was trying to do the right thing by posting training reports. Some liked them some didn't. . But it really is a waste of time to spend time talking about the past and dredging up the same old stuff. This is of course part of the deal with social media. If you don't like it don't use it. However, with Saty or whatever name his goes under its time to forget the past and move on. Forgive and forget.

Stuie at it again hammering people for having a different opinion to Satyr or pointing out the fact that Satyr was actuaully full of nothing but hot air.

Yes he went to training and chatted (bothered) to all the players. But his observations of player skills was useless compared to others that post training reports. I mean really.

And when the sh!t was really flying inside the club back in 12-13 Satyr would attack anyone who questioned club stability. He was blinded

And as i said at the time These people can be dangerous when times are bad because they wear blinlers.

Wouldn't suprise me at all if Schwab gave him the odd bonus to talk up the place on here

The reality of which we are still to know the full extent...

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him.
