Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

James Harmes promoted

I recently watched our last game against GWS and I can easily see why he was promoted. His disposal is iffy at best but his ability to take big contested grabs (something I think none of us had no idea he could do) and take the game on definitely deserves a spot on our list.

The article states that Jayden Hunt will be retained on the senior list in 2016 as well

I was pretty sure he already had been offered a spot on the rookie list, but with the happenings in the trade period i think they would much rather pick up two rookies so thought to promote him.

still think we will try to take 4 live picks into the draft, so possibility of Michie or Terlich copping the schnip

I may well be wrong, but I thought that Victorian rookies could only be on the RL for 2 years and had to either be promoted or delisted at the end of that time.

A one year contract is strange.

If the player agrees, it's good for us.

Better than Terlich getting 3 years. I mean really, Harmes is just as much chance to be a bust than a star.

If he goes on and has a great season, we resign him, he gets a bigger contract and everyone is happy. If he's a bust, we don't have to worry about paying him out.

As our list gets better, it will get harder to clear spots each year, especially as we are such a young list. We don't want to clog up our list spaces with long contract for players who we don't know are going to be part of our long term future

Yeah, just odd he would agree to it.

I'm not complaining, just strange to see.

He showed this his ability to take a big grab almost on a weekly basis at Casey earlier in the year. And he's the type of player that the more responsibility he gets, ie. when he had runs through the midfield in the VFL,

he relished the challenge and had even more of an impact on games. I expect he'll play a similar role to AVB this year, stints on the forward line and extended cameos onball.

He hit a 40m lace out pass on his left boot against Brisbane in one of his early games so I don't think he's that bad a kick. Maybe just lacks consistency in that area. I expect him to play 15+ games next year.

With Harmes upgrade and Hunt's extension, the club now has three options:

1. Delist Michie

2. Pay out Terlich

3. Pass on Pick 50 in the National Draft.

I suspect they'll go with option 2, however option 3 is certainly right in play. Will be staggered if they delist Michie.

if the club doesn't see terlich getting a game next year (that'll be 2 years in a row) then it doesn't make any sense keeping him on the list

the only savings in keeping him would be the low cost of a first year player

Not sure what you're basing this on? His disposal and decision making at Casey and the seniors has been good. He's not an elite kick, but very few are.

A one year contract is strange.

But not a bad idea. 'We think you can make it and will give you a go but you need to improve quickly'.

Beats guys like Danny Hughes hanging around for 6 or 7 yrs for less than a handful of games.....

Yeah, just odd he would agree to it.

Maybe it was another year as a rookie or this deal. I know what I would chose. It also means if he has a blinder of a year he can go back to the negotiation table and ask for more coin straight away and not have to wait another year or two and risk his form going down or injury.

Who was the imbecile that gave Terlich a 3-year deal? Extremely poor foresight.

I sort of understand where you are coming from with that question DD, but Terlich did run third in a 'Bluey' around that time. Clearly, with the benefit of hindsight, two years would have been more pragmatic.

If he can take some grabs like he did against the Giants in the last round then it's a great move.

I was in the against pile up until that game because most of the times I saw him with the ball, he proceeded to stuff it up. That being said, maybe that was just what I saw and my vision was selective.

Anyways, onwards and upwards.

Yeah, just odd he would agree to it.

Could be backing himself to earn a nice large contract at the end of next year

I also think he would have clauses in his contract that ensure he gets another contract if he plays a certain number of games next year.

He played school footy with Kelly and Salem and was as good if not better at that stage. The other two must have just developed quick than he did.

He's got a great story. Best out of all those players in Year 7-8 but stopped growing while everyone kept going. Dropped out of footy because too small. Then in Year 11 grew a foot in less than a year and suddenly in Year 12 could compete again. Was a standout over the others in some of those Year 12 games. Explains why he has had back problems. Waiting for the frame to catch up to such a rapid growth spurt.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
