Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

NATIONAL DRAFT PICKS 3 & 7

I think we ll go Francis and would be stupid not to. Parish isn't to dissimilar to Scully at that age and is already the 4th best mid behind the academy players.

Picking up Francis and Matheson who is a Jordan Lewis type mid would be perfect.

We should now try and now trade #46, #50 and our 2016 third rounder for the Swans' #33, #54 and their 2016 third rounder and promise not to bid on Mills.

No we should keep the picks, and bid on Mills at 3.. effectively wiping them out of the draft with all the points theyd have to stump up

Its time for the underdog to get nasty

Is it just me, or does it feel like this year the bulk of the top10 seemed to have a lot of question marks over them.. what I mean is that it seems these days if you want to become a great player you can't really be lacking in anything. If you are too slow, too soft, too short, can't kick etc that one flaw will render you unfit for battle. Just doesn't seem like we have any 'complete packages' to choose from this year.

I know what you mean. Brayshaw and Petracca, and Salem too seemed like sure-fire good things right from the start pre-draft.

Question marks over every one of 3-10.

None over Francis. Can't go wrong and must take at 3. He wouldn't have made it to 6

I don't care who we pick in terms of athleticism, speed, agility or natural talent - I hope we pick an intelligent bloke. The best footballers are intelligent and can process multiple options and potentialities simultaneously in the heat of the moment before they make a decision, which is consistently the right choice because they've developed a feel for where every player around them is.

What struck me last year was how well spoken Brayshaw and Petracca were, they were quality kids first and foremost. I could tell they have the intelligence to know how much work to put in to excel at this game for the longhaul.

If we do go for a risky flamboyant but inconsistent natural talent then make sure he at least becomes the next jeff farmer or a player that gives us that unpredictable edge . I love you Wiz.

Carlton just received Pick 8 in the GWS trade. Fair to say if they go down the Weitering path with Pick 1, they will be looking at one of Curnow or Weideman with their second pick to fill their void of KPF's

Knowing the way SOS drafts, they'll stuff up both their top 10 picks too. That'd be nice. Can't believe they rate him over there. It reeks of being an old boys club down there.

You are at the negotiation table. Do you:

A) play "hard ball" in order to get the best deal, make every deal take far longer than they need to, holding yourself up and annoying every counterparty in the game?

B) move straight towards your best offer, get the deal done swiftly and efficiently, allowing you to move forward on your bigger fish you have to fry and building up goodwill with your counterparties for future deals?

Yep, okay. I concede. I was wrong here. I wanted us to push Howe into the PSD to send a message, but the professional and smart thing to do is just get the trades done and move toward your objective. As it turned out, Howe changing his mind at the last minute didn't hinder us too much.

Never had a crack at Mahoney though. He seems to be a really cool, efficient operator. Well done again, Josh.

This is what "we'll be agressive in the trade period" looks like.

I also concede I went too early with the comment lampooning Roos for saying we'd be aggressive at the trade table. However, I still maintain the A+ grader comments set him up for failure though.

In the end, I'm pretty happy with this trade period. We just have to get the top 10 picks right now. This could really make this list. Get these two right and suddenly we have a core of 8-10 players that could form a dynasty. Hogan, Salem, Petracca, Viney, Tyson, Brayshaw, Pick #3, Pick #7, Tommy Mac and Gawn. But I don't think anyone could over emphasise how important these two picks are this year.

1. Weitering... Blues

2. Schache... Lions

3. Parish... Demons

4. Curnow... Bombers

5. Francis... Bombers

6. Mathieson ... Suns

7. Weideman... Demons

Likely MFC gets future star mid and star CHF

Everybody is assuming that Carltank and Brisbane are automatically going to draft Weitering and Schache however what if they don't? Last year we collected Petracca when everybody expected St Kilda to take him so stop banking Parish until this is all over!

Pleeeeeeeeease get Francis with pick 3. He is a Fyfe clone. No more stringy outside mids. We need big tough mids.

Francis' kicking is elite, can take a great grab and has X factor.

Weiderman at 7.

If Schache isn't gone we take him at three and probably have to pass on seven because everyone at our table is laughing too hard to push the button.

Can anyone who has seen him play please explain whether Parish is a tough competitor? After all, thats what the FD have consistently claimed they're targeting.

Based on the highlights he looks like the second coming of Lachie Whitfield. Surely we'd be after players who have more of a mongrel-type aggression than that...

His highlight reel is terrible, but people who actually watch the U18s say that he is actually a pretty solid contested ballwinner. I think he's better on the outside from the look of things, but when it's his turn to go he will go.

Underwhelmed by Parish, Clear standout highlights are Francis (what pair of hands he has). Schache would be a handy foil for Hogan.

Was thinking about the prospect of a last minute three way trade with the Dockers and GWS

Pick 3 to Dockers for Steven Hill or Lachie Neale

Dockers on trade pick 3 and another sweetener to GWS for McCarthy

3 Parish

4 Francis

5 Curnow (makes me sad)

6 Milera

7 Weiderman

8 Doesn't matter because it's Carlton!

Watching Milera. Has great skills, great pace, skinny as a rake. Just a red flag as a Melbourne supporter =p

Please dont take the skinny one pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Would it be possible thst the club completely blind side everyone and draft Francis at 3 and Darcy at 7?

However when i say Darcy, on this occassion i mean Tucker! Some outside pace and poise to help us off half back/wing?

Watched him quite a lot this year. Really fierce competitor. Kind of rips the ball away from you and runs away. Like a three year old kid grabbing a toy and bolting and has the speed that you cant catch him. There isnt a Petracca or Brayshaw this year but Darcy held his own with them when he was 17. The boy has mongrel.

I've never seen Weideman play but man the 3 or so things I've read about him weren't very positive. Pretty much said he was a fantastic mark but isn't a very good kick for goal, not athletic and hasn't got a good tank.

I've been surprised at this. He's just as good as Schache in the kicking department and most people at the start of the year expected that they would be roughly the same. He's had no exposed form which lets him down.

Weitering and Schache are locks for 1 and 2. Carlton might try and float they are doing something else, but you dont pass on top quality. Plus, Carlton will be hoping that Weiderman falls to 8.

Parish is compared to Whitfield who hasn't set the world on fire. We need to go for bigger bodies unless we want to wait 5 years for him to put on some size without losing confidence or being constantly injured in that period.

Francis for me.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
