I'd say Weitering is an absolute lock for 1 but what if Brisbane took someone else at 2?

Would we take Schache at 3?

The bloke that looks like the second coming of Taller Matthew Lloyd?

Maybe...

Don't know.

Oliver is a better clearance player. Won the Morrish Medal off of a very limited pre-season.

Agree with you here.

If after we take Parish at 3, then Curnow, Francis & Weideman are taken from 4 - 6 then I'd be keen on us taking Oliver who's a complete beast or potentially Tucker.

Regardless of what he looks like becoming. It seems from all reports we are heavily into Parish so it may not be that clear cut.

I think the end result of the top ten is wide open this year.

Apparently the Saints were a lock to take Petracca until the last couple of days last year too.

I really don't know. I don't follow the juniors - I am just one of the people that is interested to find out which player taken AND RATED in the teens turns out to be in the top 3 playerd from this draft 4 years from now...

I hope we actually take the third and seventh best kid.

Fair enough.

IMO that players is/will be Riley Bonner.

I hope who we take at 3 & 7 end up being the 1st & 2nd best kids.

Yes we would definitely take him at 3. Brisbane won't give us that opportunity though

There is zero chance Schache slips past Brisbane. They are crying out for a tall forward and he actually wants to play for them.

If they did pass on him it would be the worst drafting blunder.

The worst drafting blunder? I think the dees has a lock on that prize

I think the Tigers actually do (Tambling and Oakley-Nicholls).

Nah.. the selection of Toumpas over Ollie Wines is officially a massive debacle..

Hard to go past taking Fiora ahead of Pavlich.

not just us then as how many other teams didn't pick him ?

Ollie Wines to Melbourne was just made to happen though. Family friends with the Viney and hrew up with Jack from his Moama days.. Wines and Viney would have set our midfield up for 10 ywars..

Sigh..

Dude - Tambling ahead of Buddy. No contest.

Atleast Richmond got 108 games out of tambling and made a contribution every now and then..

We got absolutely SFA back..

i do agree here with you , but isn't wasn't just us that didn't pick him . he went to port for pick 7 ?

Tambling was not great but surely Cook takes the prize. A number 12 pick who never came close to playing AFL footy and we delisted not traded.

I get it, you don't actually want the 3rd and 7th best kid in this draft , you want the kids in this draft that will turn out to be the 3rd and 7th best in 4 years time?

Righto then, that should be easy..... :roos:

Nah, screwing up top 5 picks are the true moments of pain and frustration.

Tambling is worse than Toumpas; we could have eked out 150 games out of Jimmy.

The pain comes in the opportunity cost. And Wines is excellent, but the Tigers had a chance to set themselves up for a decade and chose a very good HBF and mediocre wingman. Hawthorn chose two bookends and the rest of awful history that we are still living.

Ok i concede the tiges take the prize for missing a once in a generation player for a once a year one.

But surely we deserve a prize for sustained excellence in recruiting blunders. Sort of a lifetime achievement thing. The Barry award.

Richmond also got a 1st rd pick and 3rd rd pick for Tambling from Adelaide. We got SFA for Toumpas.

I'd have thought Mitch Thorp over Joel Selwood would be the clincher.

A prime example of how whingeing about fluffed draft picks is pointless.

Work with what you've got.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
