Dees Trade Pick 6 and 2016 1st round for Picks 3 and 10

SEN just reported this trade with GCS.

Maybe just put spanner in works for Essendon with Picks 4 & 5.

Great news. Probably the biggest and most important trade we have done in the whole period.

In my opinion, this is the best deal we may ever have done besides Farmer for Phil Gilbert!

Up there with Tyson/Salem deal too.. Who's hating on Mahoney now???

The full story from the club http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2015-10-21/dees-secure-picks-no3-and-no10"It means Melbourne now has picks No.3, No.10, No.43, No.46 and No.50 in this year’s draft, as opposed to No.6, No.29, No.46, No.50 and No.64",

Not to mention the player trades.

Agree with Mahoney - it is a great deal!

So apparently we didn't get screw-ed by Howe leaving for the pies not GCS. Mahoney says: “Importantly, the deal signed this morning was the original deal proposed with Gold Coast involving Jeremy Howe. We have just replaced the Howe to Gold Coast component with pick No.29 – the pick we received from Collingwood in the Howe trade.

Depending on who is available next year and how well we finish, this could either be a huge win or a epic failure.

As long as they have done their due diligence, im happy for the club to take a punt.

I like it. Makes finishing higher next season even more important now. Imagine if we finished last and meant we were coughing up pick 1, but obviously, hopefully, that won't happen.

it all depends on where you think we will finish next year.

We may have given up a pick 6, 9 and 29 for 3,10, 44

If we have another bad year we could be giving up a pick 6, 2 and 29.

I think Josh Mahoney may now be owed a few apologies!

Terrible deal. How the [censored] do we expect to get Prestia now!?!?!?

Worry about that next year. We have to fix the here and now.

So at this stage, Parish is looking likely at pick 3. Any ideas towards who pick 10 is intended for?

Posted

I think pick 3 looks like Parish. I wonder who will be in our sights at pick 10?

Could be Parish or Curnow at 3.

Weideman still a chance at 10, Mathieson around the mark. maybe even Tucker if we look at injecting a bit of pace off half back into the wing.

I hope we climb quickly next year, because I rate next year's crop VERY highly.

Is it possible that we use some of these highh draft pick numbers to go after Prestia again for 2016?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
