Traded for pick 94. Says it all.

Considering what he was up against health wise, I have nothing but goodwill and high-hopes for Fitz. Posts like yours add nothing but spite to any discussion I'm afraid.

I thought he was on Hawthorns list but had real problems with injuries. They ditched him we recruited him, we ditched him they recruited him.

Nah, he was definitely plucked straight from the u18s. Not even sure who you're thinking of, to be honest, doesn't ring a bell at all.

I think you're right Nasher... he and Gawn were both picked up in the same draft.

Any reason why they gave a late pick for him when they could have just got him as a delisted free agent?

Mahoney apparently said it was because the Hawks wanted him on the list and therefore able to start turning up a week earlier than he would otherwise be able. MFC just doing a former player and his new club a favour, basically - for good will and nothing more.

Good luck Fitzy, tried his heart out. Hope things turn around for you at the Squarks.

If Fitzy gets a game at Hawthorn I'll chew on my own jocks - while wearing them.

I was nearly going to say I'd chew on Snitch's jocks - but no one would believe that.

Well said! Fitzy tried his best under trying personal circumstances.

When he first joined the Dee's I asked him his former allegiance and he replied Hawthorne.

I wish him success.

This is great news for the Fitz. I really hope he kicks on with the Hawks and manages to get some senior games.

The sooner he's on their list the sooner he can start training with them and working with their fitness staff. There are insurance issues and things involved in letting a player who isn't on your list work with your people.

We drafted him with pick 50 in the 2009 draft.

Also, I would like to take a brief moment to enjoy this working out. :)

Keeps with Hawks strategy of trading in skilled players.

I wish him the absolute best.

That tunnel ball killed him, there was never any coming back from that.

In retrospect, he should've been dragged to the bench, given the red jacket and immediately delisted following that incident.

I truly hope I don't see you at the Haw vs Melb game then.

Always thought he had something, but I never knew what it was! Took Gawn six years to come good. Maybe the Hawks are on to something! Norm Smith always reckoned that big blokes needed seven years to hit their peak.

Hmmm, three peat dungheap.

Nice heap.

So if I've got this right, because Hawthorn are happy to have him as depth you think we made a mistake ?

Nice logic.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
