Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We would all love him to add those layers to his game.

l would love to see Tmac kick 75 goals a season too

Would love to see Clarrys heat map, don’t thing he goes deep into the forward line often (coaches instructions maybe)

If only we could get some class on the end of his immense ball winning, it would be pretty exciting

Never take a backward step TPF39. Clarry was always the one we wanted in red and blue. Clarry. Trac.  Riv. Intensity is the key. No more Grgic, Toumpas, Morton type picks.

Lets look at scoreboard pressure - a amjor  sign of a great midfielder.

1 goal in every 3 games,

In comparison, Kevin Bartlett, 1.9 goals per game albeit he played later as a forward,

Gary Ablett Jnr.  - 1.3 goals per game, accuracy

Even Craig Bradly - 2 gaols avey 3 games.

Oliver is top notch for endeavour and courage, and is a serious acumulatr and initiator of moves to the outside, but gee I wish he would hacve more impact that his numbers suggest he could.

Yes we would love to see Clarry deliver more by hitting targets and kicking goals. That’s the step up from a star to being elite A grader.  I think extra goals will come from Brown, Kozzy, Fritsch and even Hunt/Melksham.  Clarry ,JV, Trac will get the ball inside the 50.  We need to convert it more.

I'd guess we take Parish at 3 simply because he's too good to pass up, especially for our needs.

And then Oliver is a potential pick depending on who goes at 4, 5 & 6.

I know there's talk of Milera to Gold Coast at 6, but I couldn't see us taking him as early as 7, and we need to make sure all our bases are covered if Curnow, Weideman, Francis, etc. are all gone.

I'm not against taking Oliver either, as I love the look of his attack, but I'd choose Parish ahead of him every time.

Let me put on record for future bumps that I'll be somewhat shocked if we choose this guy in the top 10. And yes, it's only looking at his style on youtube. Nothing more.

Yes, he has that desperate attack on the footy, but he's so stilted and mechanical in his approach. There's zero polish or class. I'll be really disappointed if we pick this guy.

Sorry, Oli.

Happy to eat humble pie in 5 years.

That's based on 3 minutes youtube, which supposedly shows his "highlights".

And thats why Parish at 3 is a no brainer for me. Personally as much as I'm a huge wrap for Oliver picking him at 3 would be just plain silly.

Oliver is a real bullock. Love his attack on the footy and the player. Good evasive skills, good amount of time and space. Its an impressive highlights reel.

Doesn't seem to have the 'silk' factor which you probably want to see at a pick 3 but it seems you like you would get a bona fide inside mid workhorse in the mould of, say, a Dane Swan or Oliie Wines....

Clarry, Two time B & F and All Australian!

Ah, what has Darcy Parish achieved???? Silence is deafening Clarry eats Parish every time. Of course though we could have got it wrong and drafted Parish instead and whilst he is a reasonably good player, I'm  Happy with our excellent choice!

Yes, I remember.  I had this view for about a week.  It was no longer than a week, but well done.  A fat bolter not considered good enough can make you skeptical.

You've had a great win here.  I'm going to have a nice glass of red in your honour.  But, unfortunately, you'll still be you in the morning.

Oliver is like Wines... a COMPETITOR.

@jnrmac we always say wait 5 years which is why I bumped this thread.  Oliver certainly split the demon fanatics (no drama, we are all entitled to an opinion and it’s never certain) but we now should all agree that he was a big win in the draft. I hope they give him a 4 or 5 year contract and he helps us deliver that premiership. Clarry is a contested beast and while he has a few knocks, he’s an absolute star in my book.

I do watch him and love him as a Dees palyer. But gee I wish he could hit up a target inside 50. Or even hit the scoreboard himself.

But as an inside player, he has no equal.

Cant wait to see what Oliver becomes under the guidance of Yze and Choco Williams.  Exciting thought.

Oliver's strong bond and relationship with Brendan McCartney is underestimate. It makes sense why he probably felt a bit disgruntled this year.

Can see Williams working wonders for him.

Agreed. Timely introduction of Mark Williams to really grab Trac, Clarry, and even Gus and challenge them to take the next step in their careers. It’s an great appointment imv (echo so many others) and old fashioned tough love is on the agenda.

“We want to be great”. Absolutely.

(But I’d settle for just one premiership? ).

This off season it feels like the club has been tracking demonland and tried to tick off everyone’s ideas ?

Think Chocco is exactly what Max/Clarry/Gus/Trac/Viney/Harmes all need. Someone to give them a few home truths and challenge them to be better collectively.

I believe our midfield group could be 10-20% better with a bit more hunger and accountability in their performance.

There was absolutely no hard evidence that he was disgruntled this year.  A bit of media bs and everyone believed he was looking elsewhere.  If he was ‘disgruntled’, 17 clubs would sell their sisters to get him, and there would have been blood in the water.  Seems like the fake news of 2020, like Brayshaws ‘unhappiness’ the year before. Williams might be great for him, but he won’t be if he isn’t all in - I think between Williams and Burgo it might be a tough preseason!

As someone that's had connections with Oliver in the past through the MB program and still having connections now, I can say hand on heart he was not a happy camper at all,  and the Carlton talk was real.

Carlton and his management had discussions but Melbourne knocked it on the head immediately and said in no certain term will he be traded at all. It was done and dusted there.

Its okay to be disgruntled you know. For all we know maybe other clubs were asking the question in the background? What you might not see as evidence in the naked eye doesn't mean there's a whole lot going on in the background...

Only 10/20%? That's individually multiply it by 6 players snd you would get much more improvement.

Suddenly  Ooze has nothing to do now it's all up to Choco!!!

Shoild br fascinating sering how all the stars align in the Coaches area plus our midfield!!

I am backing 20%plus in both areas!!!

Mmmmm - has some neat stats from around 10 days ago.

https://www.statsinsider.com.au/blog/afl/melbournes-best-brownlow-prospect-mightnt-be-who-you-think

Key quote

"And while Oliver has added a much more expansive, penetrative aspect to his game this season, much like Mitchell and Neale successfully did in their Brownlow seasons, Oliver's also incorporated a more pronounced defensive component to his game as well, the likes of which might have more of an impact on Brownlow night than goals. "

When we when our flag this year and the next. ...Oliver will be held up as one of our greats.

His goal scoring is poor but thats not his strength.

Running marathons and racking up thrity touches , laying 7 tackles every week will suit me.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
