Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Not sure that being best friends is a factor in draft choices Song, but I share your reflective pain.

sorry. two best friends who are both BEASTS/GUNS.

Albeit i actually believe in Toumpas as a player (have made that obvious round here), but now Toumpas wants to leave we got nothing that year except for wasted a wasted top 5 pick.

Spoke to Wines sister Maddie at a sports function and she was very adamant that he was gonna have a long career there. Ollie and the family are Port family through and through.

yup. jump off the Ollie train boys and girls. we really blew it.

Why our recruitment department wouldn't want two best friends (Viney and Wines) to be blowing up midfields on the MCG for the next 10 years, i will never know.

Well the news I just heard was that Ollie only wants a short term contract of 2 to 3 years. Does not want to be a long term Power player.

I reckon he'll be a Demon yet.

To make it even more bittersweet just saw in the AFL website that Melbourne are now willing to trade Toumpas to port for pick 29.. So probably be done in the end of the week..

Wines and Toumpas in the same team. Ironic but seriously disappointing.

Hawthorn are keeping tabs on Ollie and will be pushing hard again when his contract is up.

What's that got to do with my response to your previous post?

Geez for currency that low Roos, Goodwin and McCartney must be on some unity ticket about Toumpas. Seriously depressing stuff.

love his effort and heart but in that case im confident im also in unity.

That Ollie will have to get through the big clubs first before he ever becomes a dee (which is highly unlikely)

If he's reported to only want a short contract of 2 or 3 then I would like to think we'll be up around the mark by then.

We got a pretty decent midfielder at pick 26...

And a half decent key forward in the mini-draft.

I'm liking how quiet it's gone on the Treloar front.

Could the Dees be a chance of snatching him away from the Pies?

Also, has there been any instances of a player not ending up at their club of choice aside from going into the draft?

The age say 3rd round pick for Toumpas. That's even more depressing. The pick 29 was looking like decent value.

What a shame, would have been daylight robbery to get him at pick 29

I am amazed that after 800 odd posts, D'Landers only just got onto the WADA issue.

We contributed to about 20,000 + posts on the drug saga over 2 years, then we forget to bring up the fact that the guy we are thinking of recruiting is one of the infamous 34.

That is assuming he is on the list of offenders.

Or what is the evidence he has given during the player interviews.

Personally I can't believe " The New Dee's" would get this past Jacko.

He after all is responsible ultimately.

Has anyone from D'Land have a real connection with the club and have asked the question?

That's Essendons plan, offload as meany players of the 34 as they can so other clubs will get involved if anything happens

Mi don't want to lose the Toump. I still think he can become a good player. Pick 29 for him isn't great for us, it's actually very poor, I'd rather hold onto him for a few more years and if he doesn't make it cut him. 29 in a weak draft is poor.

We can get Kennedy for a third rounded from the filth, a second rounder is overs for him, they were poor this year and he couldn't get a game.

Just saw that in the paper. I find it hard to believe we'd except that. Pick 49 is way unders considering what he showed in a few games this year.

If the filth will be getting Pick 24 for Freeman, I'm confident we'll demand no less then 29 for Toump.

Who says he wants to leave? Lots of player names get bandied around at this time of year. DOesn't mean its them that is driving it.....

So in a perfect world, it sounds like from this trade period we might be looking at something like:

Howe & Pick 6 to Gold Coast

Picks 3 & 35 (received from Fremantle for Bennell) back to Melbourne

Pick 35 to Collingwood for Kennedy

Grimes & Pick 45 to Richmond

Pick 31 back to Melbourne

Pick 31 to GWS

Bugg back to Melbourne

Toumpas to Port

Pick 29 to Melbourne

Pick 29 to Essendon

Melksham to Melbourne

We get Melksham, Bugg, Kennedy, Pick 3 (Darcy Parish) & hold onto Pick 25 (James Parsons or one of the McKay boys) in exchange for:

Howe, Grimes, Toumpas, Pick 6 & 45

Would be brilliant!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
