AFL Trades: Four club trade could help Power snare JimmyToumpas, Charlie Dixon

The deal, which still hinges on some tweaking to come off, would involve several exchanges of second and third round selections between the club so that all four clubs are satisfied that they have improved their position from the transactions. Port Adelaide is confident it has a realistic chance of snaring Toumpas, a South Australian first-round draft pick two seasons ago who has not yet blossomed at Melbourne, but will not go after him in this deal if it weakens it feels it weakens Ports position to negotiate for Dixon.

From what the papers say Pick 26 is off to the Lions for Aish. So with whats left it's sounds like Kennedy + 28 & 29 at best.

It's going to be a doozy of a trade no matter what and someone in this group is going to get screwed. Here's to hoping its not us. But if it takes up to Thursday to execute, then it surely will be us.

Deep down inside I like others though don't care too much about the departure of the players (But I do hope Grinter comes out of retirement and gives Howie a Wallace special. I see the JH 'look at me' strut all the time in Port Melbourne, it is sickening - he will fit in well at the filth).

I care more about how wisely we can turn the best of unplanned situation into something more fruitful. (i.e. we re-position our picks GWS or GC to attempt to get higher in the top 10 or even multiple selection 6 & 8) That to me is whether we win or lose out of this.

Anyway, leave it to the pro's - they'll do the best they can.

This whole Howe trade is holding up the rest of our possible trading and considering there is only 6 days left it needs to gets done by Monday!

IDAD, the free agency will end today. The result must be at the AFL by 10am tomorrow.

If not they have 2 options. To be traded on an open market with no protection of FA or go into the draft.

Are GC looking at getting academy players in? if so I wonder whether we can go after their pick 3, with more points from our second rounders and get a pick back to give GWS for Bugg, to make the deal ok for the AFL.

That would give us picks 3 and 6 by going direct to GC. That is assuming Prestia and O'Meara are staying put, so we are after the pick 3, not a player.

Who, after the Treloar trade goes down, will have pick 7 as well as pick 8 to potentially target to offset academy bid deductions for GWS.

That said, if GWS get wind that clubs inside the first 6 picks decide not to bid on Hopper and/or Kennedy, they will hold onto those picks and end up with 4 gun players.

Essendon, Saints (at this stage) and us have to bid on these kids.

Id rather target pick 8 but apparently the two 2nd rounders we could get off Port and Collingwood aren't still not enough in regards to the academy points system?

Easily fixed, you add round three pick to 2 second rounders and you are ahead of the pack, especially as you are wanting Bugg, which will keep the AFL happy, with the points difference.

I'm generally not into being negative about our players however Toumpas is a deer in headlights at AFL level.

If trading Toumpas gets us a better player or a pick which leads to a better player then good.

Personally I don't see the point in that we would likely end up with some late 2nd/3rd round picks which just brings in more depth players...

This would be my scenario:

- Howe for Freeman
- Toumpas to Port, Port pick 29 to Colingwood, Kennedy to Melbourne

Yes, I rate Howe's 1 speccie a game and 0 accountability less than the potential Freeman has.
